One of the most active NFT communities we’ve highlighted is back with something new. 👀

@_MASKED_NFT_ by @GinjaNinja_420 and @MDX3K just launched HooTang Clan. 🦉

3,636 handmade owls launched on Ethereum, with every mint completely free.

The team says they walked away from a potential 10.8 ETH mint because they wanted to get the art into people’s hands and make NFTs fun again.

And they’ve already been building beyond the mint.

HooTang launched with 10+ games and holder utilities, with an Owlagotchi experience, holder verification, merchandise, an Owl Lab, an interactive Web3 children’s book series, and more planned on its roadmap.

That kind of continued execution is exactly why we keep following creators after we first discover them.

And it’s why we want creators building with that same conviction to know about the $RARI Creator Fund.

That was a great example of what we’re looking for: creators with compelling ideas and people who genuinely rally behind what they’re building.

So, what made JPEG Frens worth a closer look?

9,125 pieces launched on Ethereum, selling out the FCFS phase in 6 minutes and generating 100+ ETH in volume within the first week.

But what caught our attention is what happens after the mint.

Burn & Forge lets holders permanently burn their Base Frens to create new Rares, Legendaries, and Grails:

🔥 5 Base → 1 Rare
🔥 10 Base → 1 Legendary
🔥 15 Base → 1 Grail

Every decision has consequences for the collection itself.

Burn Frens carrying a particular trait and that trait can become scarcer among the pieces that survive. New artwork enters the collection, while existing pieces disappear forever, permanently reducing the total supply.

Collectors aren’t simply collecting the work. Their decisions become part of how the work evolves.

And Mr. Richi is already thinking beyond Burn & Forge.

JPEG Frens were designed so the same NFT could potentially become agentic in the future without replacing the token or migrating holders into another collection.

This is the kind of experimentation we’re paying close attention to.

NFTs gave artists a new medium, and creators are still discovering what that medium can become.

RARI wants to help surface the artists, ideas, and experiments moving it forward.
