After 9 months of displacement, Mohamed Gharib returns to his home. The view outside, at around 52 seconds, shows an unfathomable devastation - it is right there for us to see, we have seen it for 15 months and still it’s devastation your mind cannot begin to comprehend.
I met Mazen eight years ago at a Syrian solidarity rally in Amsterdam. He was a such a gentle soul, something you could notice in even the slightest thing, like he way he'd shook your hand.
Rest in peace Mazen, Syria is free 💔
After a certain age our memories are so intertwined with one another that what we are thinking of, the book we are reading, scarcely matters any more. We have put something of ourselves everywhere, everything is fertile, everything is dangerous
a plentiful light falling sound, as of grains of sand being sprinkled from a window overhead, gradually spreading, intensifying, acquiring a regular rhythm, becoming fluid, sonorous, musical, immeasurable, universal: it was the rain
Somewhere in the valley, an engineer with aphantasia is gonna read BOOK OF THE NEW SUN and experience his first internal mental image. he’s gonna shed a tear and use the experience to make crypto that kills you through the screen. the SEC will approve it as the first security.
The devastating thing here, i’m crying now, is that many of the houses israel is bombing in Gaza, especially now near Shifa Hospital, are not visited by ambulances, fire trucks, or even neighbors who could try and rescue. I read a post about a family screaming under the rubble today, but no one is coming to their rescue, not even their neighbors, who are trapped in their homes because of the snipers and tanks besieging them.

In a public talk yesterday @nytimes reporter @gettleman responsible for the heavily debunked article on alleged mass rape on Oct. 7 said his story “was compiling all these different accounts — not trying to pass judgement.”
Compare that to the actual story framing below:
We understand that directives have come from the top-down at #Sundance dissuading filmmakers from mentioning Gaza. S/o to the teams of UNION, SEEKING MAVIS BEACON, THE SMALLEST POWER & more for taking a stand against genocide anyway— we won’t be silenced. #FilmWorkersForPalestine
