BREAKING: Kingston Council has unanimously backed @RBKIndependents motion to begin divesting from companies complicit in violations of international law in Palestine, including arms firms and Israeli govt bonds.
Even the Tories backed it. People power works. #Gaza#DivestNow
Thrilled to welcome @UkKamala to the Kingston Independent Council Group on as our fourth member.
There are now twice as many Independents as Tories on the Council.

In March 2023, Croydon announced it would take "unprecedented action" to hold former senior leaders to account for misconduct, wrongdoing, and failures that contributed to its financial crisis. Instead they are all now working for us @ RBK.

And Labour’s policy of pushing inflation beating increases in social rents for the next 5 years will mean that the poorest tenants will be the hardest hit…
Pleasure to attend the @unitetheunion demonstration in Parliament this week defending the Universal Winter Fuel Payment.
In Kingston, @RBKIndependents will be bringing a motion on this matter before Full Council on Tuesday 15th October.
According to one LD outspoken Cllr we had to accept Veolia because of the Waste Partnership. What a load of rubbish!
Apparently it will be better because Veolia will have an APP for residents to report missed bin collections direct to them and not through your Cllr or Council.
Just when you thought that the bin collection nightmare is over, Kingston Council has reappointed Veolia ‘to continue high quality services’ for the borough and to ‘help meet green targets’.
Only in Kingston.
You can’t make this stuff up!
Councillors vote to get rid of the disastrous rubbish contractor Veolia.
A new contractor, for commercial reasons known as Tender A, has been appointed at a higher cost. Working with the new contractor, RBK will invest in new vehicles and better recycling for Flats.
John Lewis Kingston may finally pay its rent to RBK after half year indications of a profit.
The store pays rent to the property owners Kingston Council based on profits and not as a full leaseholder.
After 10 years of losses we might get a few quid

Richard Sharp, Head of Unilever UK, said, “This Campus will have global significance for Unilever, being home to around 2,000 employees but, more than that, it will be an iconic site for Kingston and for London. https://t.co/aabLSVgM9e
What a shame this will not be converted to proper RBK social housing on our land but sold off to do anything planning wise to cover the £9mn RBK black hole, left by the previous administration 2 years ago.
Hang on, it’s the same LD’s!
Also, for sale is Guildhall 1, with the potential to develop a 67,000 sq ft tower block. subject to planning permission.
There is no guide price for this development opportunity. Offers are being sought on an unconditional or subject to planning basis.
The question now is.
What will happen to the planning application for the proposed housing development and the promise of a levy award to improve the Hogsmill?
“Unilever has scrapped a proposal to move the company’s global headquarters to Kingston on the edge of London, the location of its UK headquarters” — FT
The current Guildhall 1, soon to be potentially 31m tall, pre-approved for any developer willing to pay at least £9m.
The over shadowing will make Guildhall and it Officers a bit in the dark.
So, no change there then!
Up early this morning with the drone.
The ‘delightful’ Unilever and it’s West facing solar panels and some sort of green stuff. The term green washing comes to mind?
Also, the AMRO Greencoat House short term accommodation ‘delight’.
Award winning?
@mrkdurrant@RBKMayor Rubberised x 2 layers.
Last year it had stolen bikes thrown in it, a probable cause.
In fact Elliot, visited and removed a bike and other objects of vandalism.
Thank you.
The is what happens when our Councillors vote to give powers of approval to Incompetent Officers.
'A Kingston Council spokesperson said:
"A formal apology, as well as a financial remedy, has been issued to the family due to the distress caused.
