The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget met with Commission on Revenue Allocation and Council of Governors to deliberate on the Division of Revenue Bill, 2026 ( National Assembly Bills No.2 of 2026)
Fresh off the track after my participation in the 100m sprint at the EALA Games. I am proud to represent Team Kenya in the athletes category and inspired to keep pushing. I have also taken part in the 4x 100m relay race, adding to an incredible day of intensifying competition and the regional sporting spirit.
Today,we reflect on our country's past, celebrate our present achievements and look ahead with a hope for a brighter future. As we mark this year's Jamhuri Day, we also embrace this year's theme on tourism, wildlife and the growing MICE Sector ( Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions)
These sectors remain pillars of our national identity and prosperity, showcasing Kenya as a leading destination where wildlife conservation, sustainable tourism and world class conferencing converge to power economic growth.
A Happy Independence Day, a Happy Jamhuri Day and may God bless our country Kenya. #JamhuriWeek2025 #TembeaKenya #MagicalKenya #KenyaAt62

Being the last Monday of 2025,let me reflect on a certain meaningful connection.Honoured to have met Jane Bosibori Marando Obuchi HSC,(Omworokia, Omoriki, Omoonchori Omoegereri bw’Ekegusii) a renowned writer, researcher, teacher and custodian of the Gusii cultural heritage. Her work takes me right back to my days in lower school studying Ekegusii( Mother Tongue).
Jane has authored many significant works including Endabasia Yechinkwana Chi'Ekegusii(Ekegusii Dictionary) ,Chingero Chi'Abagusii, Ekegusii N'ekiya and Marando the Farmer and Other Stories.
Further, she has translated into Ekegusii popular books amongst us.Part of the books she has translated include William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet as Romeo na Churieti, Ngungi wa Thiong'o's The River Between as Oroche Oroatanani and Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart as Binto Mbisebererekani.
Meeting her reminded me of how essential cultural preservation through languages and stories is. How lucky we are to have such a reservoir of knowledge in our midst!
Today, I celebrate Senator @CrystalAsige for being a steadfast champion for Persons with Disabilities. She has proved to be a symbol of resilience, valour and purpose driven leadership.
Her tireless advocacy for PWDs has not only elevated national conversations around PWDs inclusion but also guaranteed that their voices, rights and dignity are preserved and considered as legislative priorities.
I further commend her for achieving the signing into law of the progressive and transformative Persons with Disabilities Bill, 2023 which is designed to uphold and promote the rights of Persons with Disabilities across the country. Hongera Senator Asige, your work has lit the path towards a more just, inclusive and equitable nation.
A Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
