Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon briefings since the war against Iran began “have reminded the world why he is exactly the wrong person to hold the position he does,” @Peter_Wehner argues: https://t.co/2HtFIweSKc
The White House on Thursday announced that Washington, D.C.'s leading performing arts center will bear the president's name and be known as the Trump-Kennedy Center.
Trump handpicked the board of the center and is himself chairman.
After the announcement, members of the Kennedy family fired back. Maria Shriver, who's the niece of John F. Kennedy, wrote, "It's beyond wild that he would think adding his name in front of President Kennedy's name is acceptable. It is not."
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said the board has no authority to rename the center without legislative action.
OVERNIGHT: President Trump’s $1,776 checks for 1.45 million troops announced Wednesday night come from Congressionally-allocated reconciliation funds intended to subsidize housing allowances for service members, a senior official confirmed to @DefenseOne.

Thank you, New Jersey.
Next week, I intend to submit my resignation in order to serve as your 57th governor.
To my House colleagues: Do not become a rubber stamp for an agenda to take food and healthcare away from kids.
To the country: Stand strong. Don't give up the ship.
Our transition is focused on building a team that reflects the best of New Jersey — its innovation, diversity and deep commitment to public service. Interested in joining us or have an idea for us to consider?

Two new women govs!
HUGE wins tonight for @SpanbergerforVA and @MikieSherrill. They give us a powerful model of what it looks like to win tough races in this moment AND a model for leadership in the Democratic Party in the fight ahead.
Look who I just passed on the Turnpike! @MikieSherrill, @CoryBooker and I are all heading to my home county of Burlington tonight to stand together for our state and our country. Come join us:

Happy to have a new gig writing news analysis about urban education for NJ PBS/@NJSpotlightNews! Here I look into an issue that’s gotten relatively little attention in this NJ gov’s race: Jack Ciattarelli’s plan to dramatically shake up our school system. https://t.co/AWMRhIkVct
For Tech Policy Press, Gopal Ratnam reports on the state of efforts to update laws governing federal use of personal data in the wake of DOGE's collection spree https://t.co/mcEPm7cOEh
The building of King Trump’s palace may be paid for by donors, but taxpayers will be stuck covering the upkeep forever. With electric costs already through the roof, just imagine what it’ll take to keep the lights and heat on in this monument to himself.
JUST IN: The White House has begun DEMOLISHING portions of the East Wing of the White House to build Trump’s $250 million ballroom — despite earlier claiming it wouldn’t “interfere” with the existing White House structure. (Washington Post)
President Trump on NYT reporting he's seeking $230 million from the DOJ in response to the investigations into him: "With the country, it's interesting because I'm the one that makes the decision, right? And that decision would have to go across my desk. And it's awfully strange to make a decision where I'm paying myself...I was damaged very greatly and any money I would get I would give to charity."
Trump is terminating the country’s largest and most important infrastructure project, the Gateway Tunnel Project, ripping away tens of thousands of jobs and stealing billions of dollars from our state.
I’ll fight tooth and nail to get this funding back and complete this essential infrastructure project for our state, commuters, and economy. @Jack4NJ says that Gateway isn’t a Jersey issue and refuses to stand up to Trump, no matter the cost to New Jersey.
.@Jack4NJ likes to talk about his career as a “small business owner.”
Here’s the truth: he got paid by big opioid companies to publish misinformation about the safety of opioids. He even got paid to develop an app designed to help patients game the system to get opioid prescriptions from their doctors.
What kind of bullshit is this? iCE agents rappelling from a helicopter because they watched “Blackhawk Down” on TNT last night. They arrest EVERYONE and sort it out hours later? How is that legal?
