Turns out the humble screw has been teaching political science all along:
Turn right to build something strong, stable, and lasting.
Turn left to loosen it, dismantle it, and watch it fall apart.
Not everything needs a 500-page policy report. Sometimes the hardware aisle explains it perfectly.
Honour of lifetime to be Minister for Safeguarding.
Quickly found contents overwhelmingly triggering.
Did bravest thing Iโve ever done & told PMs team I sadly couldnโt stay.
Victims deserve someone at their best.
I wish my successor well & will do all I can to support them.
@andyburnham
You seem to have made a positive start, but we are watching closely.
In particular, we need the tax burden reduced.
This can be done by cutting welfare and benefits to those who can work and those who should not be in the country.
@andyburnham@TiceRichard Let's look at tax and spending differently, rather than that described by Sir Humphrey.
Reassess the overall tax burden
Reassess what levels of tax are reasonable in each area: income, VAT, corporation, capital gains, council, duties, etc.
Than spend accordingly!
@TiceRichard "...developers say their total costs are now expected to be as much as 467pc above the original estimates"
"Oh dear, how sad, never mind"
There's no more money. They'll just have to manage, or stop. In any case, stop fleecing the #taxpayer
To Mr Speaker.
Andy Burnham is set to announce a wave of new policies to the media and Twitter tomorrow, completely bypassing the House of Commons.
This continues a pattern of major announcements being briefed to journalists before Parliament has a chance to hear them.
These pledges include a repeat commitment to end rough sleeping, despite official figures showing that rough sleeping numbers in Greater Manchester have actually risen.
This disregard for parliamentary protocol is not acceptable.
Mr Speaker, you must demand that Parliament is recalled immediately.
Major policy platforms must be delivered on the floor of the House first.
This ensures Andy Burnham and his administration can face robust scrutiny from Kemi Badenoch and other members of the opposition, rather than avoiding difficult questions through managed media appearances.

Yet our government allows unidentified men from these countries, in their thousands, to walk into our country, unchecked, free to roam our towns and cities.
Criminal irresponsibility.
There is only one reason David Lammy would go to court to try and stop the release of migrant crime statistics.
Those statistics must be worse than we could imagine.
Stop the cover up @UKLabour
A plea to all patriotic MPs.
Can we PLEASE put aside petty bullshit party political differences and work TOGETHER for the British people?
We can win. We are winning. We NEED to win.
Digital ID. Family farming tax. The rape gang inquiry. Winter fuel payments.
When we come together, we can force this abhorrent Labour Government to do the right thing.
Tear lumps out of each other on social media, I don't care. But in Parliament, let's work as a team.
The Northern Irish patriots do exactly that. Plenty of Conservative MPs do the same. Reform? No. They ignore every request I have made to support my efforts in Parliament - on Digital ID, deportations, rape gangs, Islamists and so much more.
It's pathetic. I support their activity when sensible, and they tried to put me in prison. I don't care. Country before party. Every single time. Now is NOT the time for these boring political games. Leave it. Nobody cares.
Even a handful of Labour MPs have backed my efforts.
I receive more Labour support than Reform in Parliament. What does that tell you?
The country is SO much more important than this nonsense.
I'll work with anyone in Parliament to deliver positive change NOW. Not in 2029. But NOW. If we wait that long, the country will be too far gone.
2026 must be the year that all patriotic MPs put country before party, and come together as a team to fight this truly appalling Labour Government in Westminster.
This is what the British people expect of us.
We must deliver. There is no other choice.
Andy Burn'em blaming Mrs Thatcher for de-nationalising companies in energy, water, oil etc which resulted in foreign ownership is completely disingenuous, and frankly dishonest or just plain ignorant.
What Burn'em WON'T tell you is that Mrs Thatcher ensured that her government retained what were known as 'Golden Shares' in these companies.
These allowed the government to stop foreign takeovers and to have a big say in how they operated.
Guess what though?๐ค
The EU objected to these Golden Shares through their 'Free Movement of Capital' clause - Article 63 TFEU.
So John Major started to sell them off accordingly BUT the vast majority were sold off by TONY BLAIR and LABOUR.
So the finger for lack of government control in this area needs to be pointed at Tony Blair and Labour, NOT Margaret Thatcher.
So I am calling out Andy Burn'em as a liar.
