Welcome to RC2014 Towers! This pinned tweet and subsequent thread should give you some background, help you catch up and hopefully answer some anticipated FAQs
Right, that's 3 walls fully insulated. I'll find out tomorrow just how badly I've overdone the expanding foam on a scale of way too much to the office is solid.
Ok, looks like things are kicking off again in #RC2014Towers! Got wood. Got insulation.
The front wall below the window is going to be super roasty toasty and warm!
Right. That's the storage at #RC2014Towers sorted out. Everything is going to live on these little shelves I've put around the walls.
At least until I get the insulation and the sheets of plywood ordered.
The good news is that after a thorough inspection, it looks like it has been totally weatherproof in here over the winter.
Even better news is that the local wildlife seem to be respecting the "No Spiders" rule!
Apart from a damn good tidy up and sort out, I'm trying to remember what the next stage is for #RC2014Towers. I think it's the noggins in the walls, then I can get some insulation in there.
@Plasma_Dan@ZxSpectROM@arturo182@gojimmypi These are certainly way easier than concrete footings, and cheaper too. The only issue I had was that I have sandstone below the surface of my garden, so at the back of the building where I had to dig down, I couldn't get them deep enough. But, other than that, I'd recommend them
@mizesoundguy@ZxSpectROM@arturo182@gojimmypi Thats damp proof membrane. It shouldn't be needed as the timber is treated, but I'd rather play it safe than have a problem underneath in 20 years time.
@shieladixon After that photo she went off for fox reasons. But she came back a few minutes ago, so I've just put some food out. Do foxes like pate on bread? We'll find out :)
@wgoodf There's no power yet, so no heating or lighting. No insulation either, so not too useful. Spiders are banned though, so I'm sure it'll be fine.
This is probably the last update on #RC2014Towers this year. As the winter draws closer, I'm not expecting to get much more done until spring. But what an amazing journey it's been over the 6 months or so.
Today, though, I got the last of the metal cladding on. So that's 3 sides all done. And with the colour coded screw covers, you can't even see how its held on!
Frog friend approved.
