Some tips to help you ace your finals from a tutoring specialist and a Dallas College professor.
1. Start early. The earlier you start, the more time you'll have to cover everything and plan effectively.
2. Don't rush. Time is key for committing information to memory. Plan out your studying sessions each day. Allow yourself breaks between each activity so you don't overwhelm yourself.
3. Make a plan. Establish what you'll study each day and when you'll do it. Skim your studying materials to know what to expect.
4. Get good rest. Studies show that our brain processes more information during sleep. It'll take repeated study sessions to revisit materials and commit them to memory. Don't neglect your sleep to do so.
5. Eliminate distractions. Find a quiet place where you can focus during your study sessions. Removing distractions allows you to optimize your sessions effectively.
6. Prioritize. Focus on what's most important. Skim over your textbook materials, notes and other resources to know what to expect before jumping in. This will help you find your struggle areas to know where your focus should be.
