Our mission is to strengthen, support and advocate for Ramsey County Library's seven branch library system. As an independent nonprofit, we invest in libraries through fundraising, advocacy, and programming so that they, and the communities they serve, thrive.

The Friends have initiated, funded, enhanced, or expanded programs for all ages including the Summer Reading Program, Kindergarten Library Card Sign Up Party, translation services, drop-in computer and tech classes, a weekly teen maker space, Take Me Home projects and racial equity programming. We have also made substantial additions to the collection of library books and e-materials and conducted capital campaigns for library construction or remodeling.

Get ready to stock up for your winter reading and shop for gifts! The Friends are hosting gift-quality used book sales at two libraries on Saturday, December 7. Shop at RCL-Maplewood 10:00 am-3:00 pm and RCL-Shoreview 10:00 am-2:00 pm. In addition to a broad range of books, you’ll find CDs, DVDs, and more! The Maplewood sale will feature special displays with autographed books and Minnesota authors. At the Shoreview sale, spend more than $25 and receive a free basket that we’ll wrap in clear plastic and place a bow on to create a ready-made gift!

Additional in-person absentee voting sites are now open, including the Roseville and Shoreview libraries. With the exception of Maplewood City Hall, Ramsey County voters may vote before Election Day at any of the absentee voting locations, regardless of their home address. Ballots do not need to be requested in advance.
