“Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.” —1 Peter 3:9
The doctrine of justification does not save us. Christ does.
Yet what we believe about justification matters—forever.
@RCSproul considers why justification by faith alone is essential to the church’s understanding of the gospel.

"Though this love of Christ is itself beyond all computation, and can never be truly measured, nevertheless it is our business to learn as much as we can about it, to receive as much as we can possibly contain, to do our utmost, as it were, to try to comprehend it all."
- Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
“Moab shall be destroyed and be no longer a people,
because he magnified himself against the Lord.” Jeremiah 48:42
The great nation-destroying, soul-destroying sins are not finally against man, but God.

How can you know you’ll reach glory? John Piper opens Romans 8:28–30 to show that God will surely glorify everyone he justifies. https://t.co/Q3zZ9s3Gat
This is breathtaking.
“I will make with them an everlasting covenant, that I will not turn away from doing good to them. And I will put the fear of me in their hearts, that they may not turn from me. I will rejoice in doing them good, and I will plant them in this land in faithfulness, with all my heart and all my soul.” Jeremiah 32:40–41
Sin makes promises it can’t keep.
Lust says, “This will make you happier.”
Faith says, “God will.”
The fight against sin is a fight to believe God’s promises more than sin’s. And because of what Jesus has already done, we can trust what he promises to do.
God is better. And faith believes it.
Read ‘Future Grace’ by John Piper to learn how to fight lust.
