For 223 straight days, Earth's sea surface temperatures have been at all-time record warm levels.
That's 7 months and 9 days straight.
An unprecedented amount of oceanic warmth never seen before in modern history.
@YMCAGTA it’s impossible to register for a spot in the size-limited classes without the app and it’s also IMPOSSIBLE to activate the app or create a user account! Why am I paying monthly fees for such abysmal access?
ONE signature is missing to protect millions of trees across the world. Add your name to call on @GovKathyHochul to sign the bill that can help curb #deforestation worldwide #nyclimateweek https://t.co/g4aAzV9F3l
It's Martin Regg Cohn who has lost sight of the original vision of Ontario Place, a place meant to give every Ontarian a backyard that celebrates and reflects Ontario. How does a $$$ Austrian MegaSpa do that? Send a letter to [email protected] https://t.co/wwMudZCREM #onpoli
Let's connect some dots. The country is on fire and yet we are facing eviscerating the Green Belt and clearcutting 850 trees at Ontario Place as if climate change were not a serious threat.
For Karen Ridd, Teaching Associate Professor of Conflict Resolution Studies, peacebuilding comes in various forms and locations. That's why she spent time this summer in Palestine, teaching a course on conflict-resolution skills to 22 students. https://t.co/xKraw63a75

Doug Ford can’t bluster his way out of the Greenbelt controversy https://t.co/X6fTLJSVTO via @torontostar
Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy — whose office is where the Pickering Greenbelt protest was held — says building in the Greenbelt is a “necessity” for the future economy.
AG report clearly says it is not.

EXCITING NEWS for those passionate about housing delivery, affordable housing, and building a sustainable, liveable region:
Tyndale Green is officially APPROVED!
* 1510 new homes, with significant affordable housing
* Two new Public Parks
* We've protected over 60% of the site as green space
* Mostly 6-8 storey buildings: "gentle density"
* New cafe, daycare, recreation facility
And get this: we've worked hard to figure out how to use geo-exchange (renewable heating & cooling). As a result, the carbon reduction from just the first phase alone will equate to planting 9,500 trees, and on an ongoing basis will be equivalent to taking 124 cars off the road per year.

BREAKING: Premier Doug Ford directly contradicts the AG report into his gov't Greenbelt dealing.
"No one had preferential treatment," Ford claims.
The AG specifically says developers handed the government packages of land to remove -- and the gov't complied.

Nearly 50 years of public policy came together in the Greenbelt. Every step of the way, citizen advocates played a crucial role in shaping the future of our region.
Lobbying, advocating, conducting research, disseminating information. Until now.
In 1973, Bill Davis protected the Niagara Escarpment.
In 1990, the United Nations declared the Niagara Escarpment a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.
In 2001, Mike Harris protected the Oak Ridges Moraine, laying the foundation for the Greenbelt.
In 2005, Dalton McGuinty pushed the Greenbelt over the finish line, and created Places to Grow, directing growth to existing urban centres. We officially began growing up as a region.
In 2022, the Auditor General outed Doug Ford for beginning the sell off of these protected lands to his friends, for astronomical profit.
Very curious as to what will come next. The story is unwritten, and we all have a role to play - as we always have.
BREAKING: Ontario's AG reveals Premier Doug Ford directed Housing Minister Steve Clark to conduct “swaps, expansions, contractions and policy updates” related to the Greenbelt.
Developers then had direct influence over which lands were removed.

A decade ago - in anticipation of climate change - we began planting trees for the climate of Washington, DC, in Toronto. These trees are thriving today (see Sugar Beach, below). Street trees are much trickier due to the abuse they take from winter salt, bikes, pedestrians, garbage etc. Agreed; we need better care in ensuring street trees with thrive. Wider sidewalks to create a sufficient 'tree zone' is critical.
Amsterdam’s plan to remove 11,200 parking spaces from its streets by the end of 2025 is even more inspiring when we realize the kind of people-places that are possible where cars used to be. Example — #Amsterdam’s Elandsgracht between 2014 & 2019, via @schlijper’s great pics.
