Catholic fighting to improve housing & immigration policy • Trying to love the best I know how • Political independent • Former Doraville City Councilwoman
@SharkNinja great vacuum but I bought this 1 year ago for $300 and it stopped working. Customer support has sent me multiple parts of multiple types of vacuums 🤦 yet my vacuum still doesn't work. Today they supposedly sent a charging cord but a different base arrived instead 😭
Yes indeed. And the fact that many in the GOP now completely reject this view of immigrants is one of the saddest developments of my political lifetime.
Maybe this is something that WABE can publicize to try to get some momentum with the GA legislature and those who voted to pass the retaliatory eviction law a couple years ago. This is the loophole that landlords have learned to exploit even more often.
@stephannnnie have you heard stories of people who've complained to their landlord about maintenance issues and then, instead of evicting them, they're just not renewing their contracts as a way to get around the retaliatory eviction law? This is currently happening in Doraville.
A Doraville councilwoman recently announced she would resign because she’s moving outside of the city and wants to focus on other activist work instead of politics. https://t.co/o2MoXI2PgJ
Official letter of resignation: it wasn't an easy decision, but there is peace in knowing it is the right decision for me and, more importantly, my family.

Working on the Spanish translation right now.
Unfortunately, teachers, staff, & students are being retaliated against for speaking out &/or helping students use their voices. The district is trying to bar anyone from showing these conditions. Something has to change! I was pushed out of DeKalb Schools for the same reason.
That video inside DeKalb’s Druid Hills HS got a ton of attention. Now I’m talking to a couple of former teachers who say schools in the Buford Hwy corridor are just as bad but not getting much attention, perhaps because they are 80 or 90% immigrant families. At 6:33 @wsbtv
My thoughts? When people have already paid their debt to society, it’s incumbent upon elected officials to reintegrate them into society...continuing to punish someone after they have rejoined the community is both cruel and honestly counterproductive.

The City of Doraville needs to change how we spend your money, starting with #CodeEnforcement but also the #MunicipalCourt.
Which one of these cities is not like the others? 🧐🧐🧐

“Why are you arresting her?” This Facebook Live video from @TWareStevens shows the moment authorities detained state Rep. Park Cannon as @GovKemp was behind those doors signing elections restrictions into law. #gapol
@waberosescott listening to Closer Look right now and wondering if Gwinnett is requiring SSN cards for rent relief, how does that help mixed status families who may have an undocumented person on the lease?
