The conversation examined Rwanda's progress towards securing European Union (EU) recognition of its data protection framework through General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) adequacy, and the importance of trusted data governance in enabling cross-border digital services, investor confidence, and the growth of high-value Global Business Services.

The discussion focused on positioning Rwanda as a leading destination for high-value digital services, including AI, cybersecurity, data analytics, and advanced business operations.

Today, RDB CEO @afrika_jean, together with @RwandaInUK High Commissioner @BusingyeJohns, met with @commonwealthsec Secretary-General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey during her visit to Rwanda.
The meeting explored opportunities to strengthen Rwanda’s economic engagement with the Commonwealth, including through trade and investment promotion, and private sector collaboration.
On the margins of the 126th Session of the UN Tourism Executive Council in Toledo, Spain, RDB Chief Tourism Officer Irène Murerwa met with UN Tourism Secretary-General Shaikha Al Nowais for discussions on expanding collaboration and advancing shared priorities for tourism development, investment, and innovation.
From 10–11 June in Toledo, Spain, RDB Chief Tourism Officer Irène Murerwa represented Rwanda at the 126th Session of the UN Tourism Executive Council, where Member States discussed priorities for the future of the global tourism sector.
During the session, Rwanda highlighted its commitment to tourism as a driver of conservation, community development, and inclusive economic growth, while sharing efforts to diversify its tourism offering through leisure, sports, and MICE tourism, supported by innovation and digital transformation.
Yesterday, RDB CEO @afrika_jean met with Abizer Tambawala, Managing Director of Sizer Metals, to discuss investment opportunities aimed at advancing value addition in Rwanda’s mining sector through mineral processing and industrial development, in line with the country’s industrialisation agenda and efforts to strengthen local value chains and support economic growth.
