Wrapping up Day 2 of #RNSC2026. Farmers still face limited access to quality seed due to low local production, high costs, and limited last-mile distribution. @rdi_org calls for investment in local seed systems, blended finance, low-cost credit and stronger distribution systems.
Building a trade-ready seed system takes global standards!
At #RNSC2026, ISTA, OECD & UPOV experts highlighted how harmonizing seed laws unlocks trade. ISTA certificates act as a "trade visa", guaranteeing smallholders get high-performing seeds on time.

Building a market-driven seed ecosystem isn’t passive—it takes policy, finance, and advocacy. Backed by Rwanda's 90% increase in public de-risking funds, @rdi_org is rallying partners at #RNSC2026 to step up, unlock agribusiness potential, and transform African agriculture!
Aligning our seed roadmap is projected to unlock a 15–30% yield improvement in priority crops and establish Rwanda as a competitive regional seed exporter. The economic case compounds as we drive agribusiness turnover and long-term macro impact!

The #3rdRNSC is here! @rdi_org is proud to participate. In opening remarks, MINAGRI Minister of State Dr. @solangeuwituze highlighted partnerships and how seeds ground a bountiful harvest. She urged that Africa holds just 2% of the $85B global seed market, so it's time to scale.
The #3rdRwandaNationalSeedCongress is almost here! We are joining 300+ global experts in Kigali on 20–21 July to discuss policy, production, investment, and innovation.
@rdi_org will be there advocating for farmers. Let us build a resilient seed system together.

Building a resilient seed system starts now.
At @rdi_org, we look forward to joining the #3rdRNSC. With only 37% of farmers using improved seeds, we are advocating for solutions that bridge the accessibility gap between small and large scale farmers.

Today, the Minister of Local Government, @Dominiquehab, officially opened the Government–Civil Society Dialogue. Held under the theme, “Strengthening Collaboration between Government and Civil Society for Sustainable NST2 and Vision 2050 Outcomes,” the forum serves as a strategic platform to reinforce institutional partnerships for national development.
Minister Habimana commended Rwanda’s remarkable socio-economic progress over the last 32 years. He attributed these achievements to the enduring partnership between the Government and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), guided by an inclusive leadership that actively values the contributions of all stakeholders.
The Minister underscored the vital role of institutionalized platforms in driving impactful governance. He highlighted the Joint Action Development Forum (JADF) at the local government level, alongside Technical and Sector Working Groups at the national level, as central mechanisms ensuring that developmental programs translate into tangible transformations in citizen welfare.
“The mandate of Civil Society extends far beyond the co-design of national aspirations; it is fundamentally rooted in their active realization. Today’s dialogue offers a timely opportunity to evaluate our shared progress, strengthen strategic alignment, and renew our collective commitment to Rwanda’s developmental milestones”, he said.
Minister Habimana urged Civil Society Organizations to further align and advance their interventions with pressing grassroots priorities. He called for an intensified, collaborative focus on critical socio-economic challenges, including eradicating malnutrition, combating gender-based violence, and upgrading community hygiene and sanitation standards.
@INGABOSYNDICAT1 @CECI_Canada believes that sharing knowledge, building local capacity, and fostering strong partnerships are essential to creating lasting change. We look forward to seeing the positive impact Mungandi and Shaka will make alongside their new host organizations. @rdi_org#Rwanda
