@awealthofcs Not everyone bought on Jan 1, but not everyone bought at the all time high (what the graph sorta implies)
Don't get me wrong, I think the memestock buying is insane. I'm in index funds.
But we shouldn't pretend it's not still up 800%...
@Robert_A_Berger@googledocs@googlesheets I find the web versions (not the apps) of docs and sheets are usable on iPad if you're using a keyboard.
Agreed that, without a keyboard, it's terrible!
You don't push code to prod before testing it.
And you shouldn't make financial decisions without trialing them either.
Budget experiments save you time and money by continuously aligning your spending with your goals.

"Budgets are useless" you say.
No wonder...you've been doing budget theater!

The TubbyCoin BigHugs! Token, an official Teletubbies cryptocurrency made with special HugTech from WildBrain Labs is here. For every like, share, comment of #TubbyCoin, the TubbyCoin becomes more valuable! Letโs take it to the moon. ๐: https://t.co/CZJn5R7NI9
Jimmy Lai, the Hong Kong media tycoon, was just convicted of organizing a pro-democracy protest. He could face up to five years in prison.
In a 2019 @planetmoney interview, he told me why he would never leave Hong Kong.
Maybe you can predict how you'll feel not working.
But it's nearly impossible to predict how you'll feel about whatever you do instead.
(Unless you know precisely what you'll be doing and have done it full-time before)
Great advice to test-run with a sabbatical before FIRE.
I know you don't want to have a personal budget, but that's because you're thinking about it all wrong!
Use a budget to experiment and optimize your spending, not reduce it:

@GergelyOrosz@rgan0 I'm sure there are also many who struggle to find jobs and the bootcamps don't advertise that, but neither do universities. Requires hustle in both cases.
IMO, it's another important option for budding programmers to have, with different trade-offs compared to a degree.
@GergelyOrosz@rgan0 I guess they might need a little more guidance than new grads, but surprisingly not much more?
Separately, I have a friend who attended a bootcamp and has been able to relatively quickly get web dev jobs at banks, advertising, and tech companies
@retireinprogres Really hilarious, a fun read.
Made me think that for a modern currency, BTC sure takes the security and convenience of money back a hundred years or so.
With every paycheck, it's increasingly painful to invest my money!
Stocks? Over-valued.
Bonds? Low yields and prices dropping.
Cash? Will lose from inflation.
๐ฌ But I grin and bear it and invest anyway. TINA
Nobody knows what will happen! The last 2 years proved it again.
The market is unpredictable. Nothing to do about that.
But we can make the most of any changes and reduce risk.
What I've done:
- Stocks rise? Rebalance
- Stocks drop? Tax-loss harvest
- Risk of interest-rate increases? Add stable-value/TIPS
- Feel uncertain? Keep the day job
