The Recall Clause-A National Destabiliser

The recall clause must be suspended immediately pending discussions in parliament and broader consultations to assess it's suitability in a democratic society.

If found to be unfit, it must be abolished altogether. It is certainly being used against what the constitution envisaged at its inception.

The recalls have caused a lot of instability, unpredictability & uncertainty which adversely affects the day to day running of both Central & local governments affairs.

It has deprived voters of adequate representation as remaining representatives have adopt orphaned constituencies in between by-elections. It is the voters that are deprived of their choice & representation and who suffer the most as opposed to political parties & their leaders.

It is an unnecessary over- burden on the national fiscus which our struggling economy cannot afford.

We need to think deep & reflect strongly in the best interest of democracy, stability and national advancement.

We cannot allow the abuse of this clause to settle personal & partisan scores at the expense of economic growth, representation & national development.

It is the opinion of many that the recalls must be halted immediately until the conclusion of a national stakeholder exercise to determine it's suitability, viability & profitability to the nation at large.
