Thank you to Anna from Race Equality First. They learnt about what race and racism is, discussed examples of racial bullying, how to become anti-racist and how to report racism if a victim or witness.
The Vale of Glamorgan Community Cohesion Group @ValeCohesion convened today for its quarterly meeting, bringing together key stakeholders to address critical issues such as community safety, hate crime, anti-social behaviour, and crime statistics. The group’s collaborative efforts aim to strengthen cohesion and foster a safer, more inclusive community.
A highlight of the meeting was an update from the @VOGCouncil on its inclusion in the Safe Places National Network, an important initiative designed to establish safe locations where vulnerable individuals can seek assistance when needed. The Council is currently recruiting venues across the county to join this invaluable network.
In addition, the group reviewed the latest community safety report and received an update on hate crime statistics from @swpolice. Attendees included representatives from Safer Vale, @BAWSO, @REFCardiffVG, Barry Mosque and Community Centre and the Vale Council, among others.
For more information or to get involved in the Safe Places Network, community groups, religious buildings and businesses in the Vale are encouraged to contact the team via email at [email protected].
Last week, we spoke to the #UN Committee for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination #CERD in Geneva about Wales' commitment to racial equality.

Some of our recommendations: 1. Create an independent body with race equality experts to oversee police conduct. 2. Devolve Welsh Criminal Justice powers. 3. Fully incorporate ICERD into UK and Welsh law. 4. Suspend FRT use until it is non-discriminatory, with strong regulations.

Roeddwn yn falch o gyfarfod cynrychiolwyr o Race Equality First yn ddiweddar. Mae nhw yn cynnig hyfforddiant gwrth-hiliaeth ar draws y wlad, er mwyn creu Cymru teg a chyfiawn.
