@thecureverse@thecure@RobertSmith If I were in a jazz club (which has happened despite jazz not being my sort of ‘thing’) and this happened I’d be very happy. It’s an excellent version, very different with a well thought out arrangement. Plus she has a tremendous voice.
@sdedition@duranduran An album plagued by production problems, recording relocation, swapping producers. despite all that managed to conjur a banger in Shadows on Your Side, criminally not a single. There’s good songs here buried amongst Nick’s fairlight tinkering and Andy’s wizardry non existent.
@Tim_Burgess I’m a huge curefan as well and as much as I’m ecstatic the cure are back with their best material since the 90s it doesn’t quite get as good as
Julie - My Anti-Aircraft Friend. Even Bob would like this., think Pre-Loveless MBV sounds, but imagine they were on Sub Pop records
@alanmoreton1962@reevesgabrels@thecure@RobertSmith Guitar solos in the cure?….well they’ve done sax and trumpet solo’s before. I’m not actually a fan of Reeves style of playing, esp on a night like this. Endsong however, it works. Anyhoo funniest bit about this clip is when it pans to Perry, the haunted roadie!
@CraigatCoF If anyone owns a jazzmaster / jaguar guitar and a Roland jazz chorus amp they have the ‘sound’ of the entirety of seventeen seconds. No pedals required…ok maybe a delay for A Forest.
@zummo1@CraigatCoF I can never say goodbye and Endsong were better live than the album versions. The album version of Endsong drums sound very similar, rhymically and sonically to Duran Duran’s The Wild Boys. For me tho, and nothing is forever and alone are my instant skippable tracks.
@thecure You gotta love the simplicity of the Cure. No exotic bespoke boutique guitar pedals or old valve amps. Just bog standard Boss guitar pedals and Roland Cube amps. That’s the sound!
