A custody wallet has been deployed to house remaining assets. I will soon begin moving eligible assets* to custody. https://t.co/QhqhAXnJHH will remain hosted for the foreseeable future, but this move is a more permanent solution that enables easier onchain claims and allows for the eventual deprecation of the site.
Contract deployed at vanity address 0x5AFe00...005AfE for added recognizability.
*some assets block contract custody via ERC721C rules, these will remain in the safu wallet and claimable via the old method. If their transfer validation rules are updated to allow the custody wallet, they will be moved at that point.
So I am not a TCG player. What I am is an art collector and when it comes to BAYC, I'm collecting.
Me being honest, I didn't know what I was receiving at the time during ApeFest when I was patiently waiting to pickup my red tote bag and when I saw Mudwater, whilst I really liked the look of the box, the counters, the mat and the card deck, I have to admit, I did sigh inside when I saw it was a TCG. Only because I know that is the meta but I don't play TCGs.
However, very excited to see all of the incredible art that I love from the club, I wasted no time to rip open my digital packs at Charleston Airport on Monday afternoon and when I got home Tuesday evening, I sat down with extreme jet lag at my dining room table and carefully ripped open my entire box of physical packs I was gifted by the club at ApeFest.
I pulled some really nice cards across both, many rares, 6 prestiges, 1 legendary and 28 foils. Plus 2 promotional cards that were only given at ApeFest which the art was of course, amazing and instantly recognisable.
One of my prestiges I pulled was the digital foiled version of Jimmy's butthole with the golden key aka #71 - Skeleton Key, which when I am able to, I'll request the physical from the vault to topload and display.
But what I like the most isn't just the shiny and grail ones, it's that even the base uncommons and commons are the dope art that we have known and seen for 5+ years immortalised in collectible cards. That's what I really connect with about all this. This is our club art in our hands.
So I went through all of my physical cards and chose my favourite ones to topload and display at home. Of course, the prestiges and legendary were prioritised together with my favourite foils, but a number of non grails made the cut because the art is the art of the club and some I have really connected with over the years. Because I am a Mutant Ape, I went to ApeFest Lisbon, I helped to organise the UK Ape Club meet in the summer and most recently went to ApeFest Charleston. So many now feature on display in my dining room for that reason.
I have no explanation why I want to display a foiled prestige Jimmy's butthole, but I will explain to my wife that in the Dr's house we do not shy away from the chocolate starfish balloon knot, we celebrate it.
So like I said at the start, I am not a TCG player. What I am is an art collector and when it comes to BAYC, I'm ripping and displaying my cards in all their variations and glory, in pride of place at my home in London town.
Props to @mfigge and the team for the mat broadcast methodology!
