The #Svalbard sea ice area for 4th Jan 2021 is 173,660 sq km (67,050 sq miles) below the 1991-2020 average. 3rd lowest on record. Such ice loss is a serious situation for Barents Sea polar bears. Very challenging conditions for the bears.

That's a collection of worrying indicators. 1st concerns for polar bears & climate change date back to 1993. 27 years on and all the indicators are pointing the same way: sea ice is declining & polar bears are in trouble. The science on sea ice & polar bears is clear.
