The Sony A95L is something special for retro gamers. Gets bright enough for 60Hz BFI! Sony needs to finish the FW though as screens settings aren’t fully implemented yet.
@ZFoxii@citrus3000psi I believe at the time the main motivation was the capacitor height. The standard electrolytics were at best case flush against the inside of the SCART hood where as the tantalums had clearance. Nowadays I prefer to use tantalum polymer ones for a compact footprint.
While 10 pin mini din was an improvement Sega made for the Saturn, the MD10 sockets currently available have the downside of requiring modification to the pin housing to be compatible with Saturn cables as the metal shell differs in shape.
What's the best analog video connector and why is it Mini Din 10? It has +5V, RGB, S-video, composite video, and stereo audio, all with a tiny footprint. Sega knew what it was doing when they developed the Saturn. No reason that MD10 couldn't replace SCART or VGA w/ good cables.
Came across a Multi-AV cable with a “NDPD Analog A/V” tag while surveying which ground pin Nintendo used for audio. Sampling several generations they all used the bottom pin for audio, including the SHVC-010 RGB21 cable. “NPDP” probably not GCN dev kit related. 😆
Whipped up some replacement SNES multi-AV PCBs for @AngryHelder’s classic 3D printed mounts. Wanted larger pads for mini-coax wiring as well as thicker ground routing and ENIG vs HASL. Had a little fun with making just the tips of the SNES card edge have solder mask.
My #SNES AV Breakout adapter. Equivalent to my #AtariJaguar AV Breakout. Switched RCA jack model and made sure their tabs fit in notches instead of hanging over the PCB edge.
@IssaZombie343@ASSEMblergames Check AliExpress for the plugs. I’ve refreshed the SNES Breakout PCB design and am working on modeling a 3D printable enclosure. I’ve designed and assembled a slew of adapters that need enclosures designed before introducing.
Introducing Analogue Pocket.
A multi-video-game-system portable handheld. A digital audio workstation with a built-in synthesizer and sequencer.
A tribute to portable gaming.

Compiled FPGA bitstreams for Analogue Pocket and several MiSTer cores to *roughly* compare resource requirements. Looking forward to Spiritualized1997’s SNES and Genesis cores for the Pocket! 😉
@AndrewElmore@SonyElectronics It’s been predicted that Sony, Panasonic (outside NA), and others will upgrade to the new @MediaTek Pentonic 2000 SoC in 2023 models that will increase the number of HDMI 2.1 ports to 4, and other gaming friendly features. https://t.co/GGEzmEtaPl
This rant describes reasons I prefer @SonyElectronics TVs over LG and Samsung. 🤷♂️ That said, Sony better fix the 2160p120 4:4:4 bug on the A95K QD-OLED! 🤡
Rant incoming, even though I'm risking getting hated on...
So, I got a LG C1 to test CRT effects (RT4K) and VRR (RT4K and RT5X)... and it's been an absolute shit show.
Fully aware that many of my problems is down to user stupidity 🤡
