@KyivPost Edit: veer means to change direction suddenly; pictured, the jet overruns the runaway straightforwardly. Appears the aircraft touched down too late, was overladen, or on an insufficient runway.
@SethAbramson Community is a brilliant show, and Chevy Chase committing to play his character 24/7 for the rest of his life is unexpected but admirable. That's what I'll go with ..,
@jacktodd46 The assumption that WW2 was fought over a religious divide, and not a nationalist competition for empire, doesn't really stand any review. The holocaust was bad & the war was fought for other reasons can both be true.
@FuzzyWuzzyTO @Captaincoby00@alecwhitewolf My first experience with Putin adoration was encountering working class Brits on holiday abroad. Putin the only topic as exciting for them as the glory of Brexit. Eye opening.
@peggy_blair If that little guy survives predators & reaches a decent size, a 100 year lifespan not unknown. Perhaps longer -- we have so little information, it's possible (likely?) 150 years or more!
@notseelen It is of course a broad human trait; cars the latest in a line that includes hats, attire, tattoos, hair-styles ... the list is long. Few societies have embraced the car as social indicator the way North America has.
@Mike_M_Klotz@notseelen My mid-sized white collar city finds parking lots with a scattering of similar trucks on any given day. A construction site will be jam-packed with them ... every labourer will have commuted in one, despite having no use for the truck 'on the job'. They are tribe-signals.
@EHergottAdvisor @AndrewLewisFC Ontario 'commercial' plates are black on white, two letters separated from six numbers by a crown. The header is a stylised 'Ontario' ... and that's what the plate here looks to be.
@MarkBourrie Golden Dragon & Nate's, both on Rideau blocks from the Hill, were plastered with politico photos. All parties, foreign dips ... fun times!
@mwoodski I'm confident I've relatives that own cars that have no idea what a cylinder is or if theirs has any at all. As unlikely a concern as whether they had a 2bl or 4bl carb, back in the day 🤔
@Norlaine@Scribulatora Toilets on planes have always been unisex, trains too if memory serves. Anxiety over WC gendering feels like quite a new thing ...
@TheEngrumpled @daleethompson No, a lawyer that only represents the innocent or clients they like is quite frankly a poor lawyer. That sort of judgement is for PR firms.
@martynschmoll I can drive 3000km from my house in Ottawa to Vancouver without ever crossing a sidewalk. But I can't walk 50m in any direction without venturing onto a street 😕
My house was in place 50 years before the automobile was invented, and nothing could have foreseen the danger
@terrjonerly@SjamieIt ByWard had a similar bypass around a few patios extensions on Clarence back when the street was closed to traffic (it didn't close this year under a new mayor) -- the railings were popular 'leaning spots' for those waiting to enter. On a busy evening -- packed!
