Now seems as good a time as any to share my small but meaningful Frusciante collection. I feel really lucky to have been able to get the new print last weekend, sorry to anyone who missed out. Hopefully @warnerrecords@Rhino_Records will see it as a sign to do more in the future!
@streets_unruly It’s more aimed at getting radio play, so will include the biggest singles. For something like Greatest Hits I imagine they had to choose at least one so went for My Friends instead. Not sure about Discogs!
Really interesting addition to the collection today that I’ve had my eye on for a while. A4 sized paper folder CD sampler sent to radio stations ahead of SA in 2006. Also includes an A5 sicker to match.
@RHCPStuff It’s my favourite album cover of theirs, I just wish the alt version was a bit clearer. Current favourites are She’s a Lover, Whatchu Thinkin, and The Heavy Wing. It’s Only Natural is great too!
I got Fight Like A Brave on 12” last week and it has a “manufacturers property” sticker on it. Does that mean it’s a promo copy or something? Also pictured with its siblings! Only the 7” includes the actual album version of the song. Fire is great too
@Simon__Harper It may be rigid, but not for me. I think while they’re strongly about the band, I would differentiate them as “solo” works adjacent to the band. Obviously I love both, but I don’t even own a copy of Acid as I borrowed it from the library to read!
I’ve massively overthought about what “counts” as official physical media and in terms of RHCP books I only really include this and the Oral/Visual history, maybe the tab books too. I got this for the first time today and it’s been a joy to look through.
I also picked up a promo copy of Snow this week. I listened through the edit and couldn’t tell the difference! I usually add radio edits to my playlists where they’re available. I feel like I have a ‘complete set’ of this release now!
I was in a bit of a lull when this came out, so never really got around to picking it up. There’s something magical about this band that produces so much inspiration and joy that is very effectively captured here. I hope to add my own little contribution with my collection here!
