The ANCYL NEC Members, Cde Millicent Sekonya and Cde Katlego Mankanku, together with the ANCYL Tshwane Regional Deputy Chairperson, Cde Thabang Mahlomuza, are attending the Young African Political Leaders Workshop in China under the theme: “China and Africa Join Hands in Advancing Modernization: The Mission and Duty of Youth.”

The workshop brings together young political leaders from across the African continent to engage on youth development, leadership, governance and international cooperation towards a modernised and progressive Africa.

Yesterday, ANCYL NEC Member Cde Katlego Mankanku joined by the ANCYL Gauteng Provincial Secretary, Cde Mpume Sangweni, led a successful door-to-door and online voter registration high-visibility campaign in Ward 68, Ekurhuleni Region.

The campaign focused on engaging directly with communities, encouraging eligible residents to register to vote online, renew their membership and strengthen the organisation's presence on the ground. Through meaningful interactions with community members, the leadership reaffirmed the ANCYL's commitment to building a vibrant, active, and people-centred movement.

Today, the ANCYL President, Cde Collen Malatji, led a wreath-laying ceremony in honour of our late sister, Cde Tholithembelihle Ngwenya at Zuurfontein Cemetery in Ekurhuleni.

Today marked one year since the passing of our late sister, Cde Tholithembelihle Ngwenya. The ceremony served as a solemn tribute to a committed youth activist whose contribution to the struggle for the emancipation of young people will forever be remembered.Though a year has passed, her dedication, courage, and revolutionary spirit continue to inspire generations of young people.

Present was ANCYL NEC Members Cde Douglas Ngobeni, Cde Ziyanda Mhlauli, Cde Katlego Mankanku and the ANCYL Gauteng Leadership, The ANC Gauteng Fundraiser Cde Tasneem Motara.

May her revolutionary spirit continue to rest in eternal peace.

The ANCYL Deputy President, Cde Francisco Dyantyi, accompanied by ANCYL NEC Member, Cde Katlego Mankanku, is today leading the Mandela Day Programme at Mbayimbayi Creche in Bhobhoyi, Ward 21, Ray Nkonyeni Sub-Region, Tolomane Mnyayiza Region, KwaZulu-Natal.

The programme forms part of the ANCYL's commitment to honouring the legacy of President Nelson Mandela through meaningful community service.

The ANCYL joined volunteers on site as refurbishment work got underway, with participants actively engaged in construction activities and other improvement work aimed at enhancing the learning environment at the creche.

The ANCYL remains committed to translating Mandela Day into practical action that restores dignity and positively impacts communities.

The Deputy President is accompanied by ANCYL NEC Member, Cde Katlego Mankanku, as the organisation strengthens its structures on the ground and consolidates a disciplined, active and community-centred volunteer base ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.

Remembering The Cradock Four

Today, 27 June, marks the 41st anniversary of comrades Matthew Goniwe, Fort Calata, Sparrow Mkhonto & Sicelo Mhlawuli's brutal killing by the apartheid regime.

On this day, 41 years ago, these four revolutionary activists, now famously known as the Cradock Four, were intercepted by security police in a roadblock near Port Elizabeth. They were unaware that two members of their group, Matthew Goniwe and Fort Calata, had been targeted for assassination. The Cradock Four; Goniwe, Calata, Sparrow Mkonto and Sicelo Mhlauli, were never seen alive again.

Their death marked a turning point for struggle politics. On the day of their funeral, apartheid murderous President, PW Botha responded by declaring a national State of Emergency, which would remain in place for a number of years. It is recorded amongst the key events which spurred on the masses of our people in the death defying relentless fight for freedom which brought apartheid to its knees and ushered in our democracy.

Last night, I addressed a hall packed with first-time voters who have registered to vote and are preparing to cast their ballots for the very first time in their lives.

We also had an engaging and insightful interaction with these young people, joined by Cde Peace Mabe, ANC PEC Member in Gauteng, Cde Loyiso Masuku, ANC Regional Chairperson of the Greater Johannesburg Region and the ANCYL Gauteng Chairperson, Cde Ntsako Mogobe.

The commitment displayed by these first-time voters is a clear indication that the youth are ready to make a difference and play their part in strengthening our democracy.

We say thank you for the sacrifices you made throughout your life in pursuit of freedom, justice, and the liberation of our nation. Your courage, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the struggle shall remain a source of inspiration to generations to come.

Commissar, we remain deeply indebted to you for the role you played in advancing the cause of our people and defending the ideals of our movement during the most difficult periods of our history.

Though you have departed physically, your revolutionary spirit will continue to live among the masses of our people and within the ranks of the movement you served with honour and distinction.

He was joined by ANCYL NEC Members, Dr Sunshine Myende and Cde Ashley Malatji as they conveyed condolences on behalf of the ANCYL and support to the family during this difficult time. The ANCYL extends its deepest condolences to the Khutamo family, comrades, and the entire ANC family in Ward 100.
