Great question. Travelers in the program report on any symptoms daily (even mild symptoms). We have clinical staff who assess those reports each day. If anything indicates to our clinical staff that a person should limit contact with others, we take those next steps with the traveler.

Symptom monitoring occurs daily. The system is intended to identify any symptoms as soon as they develop (if they develop). Special isolation measures would be taken to treat someone who is symptomatic and who had a history of recent travel to a country with active Ebola transmission.
The Ebola risk to the general public in RI remains very low. No cases of Ebola have been identified in the United States.
Ebola does not spread through the air. A person cannot get Ebola from simply being near someone or passing them in public spaces. (Ebola spreads through contact with the body fluids of a person who is actively symptomatic with Ebola, or who has died from Ebola.)
