Yest. Apple issued an emergency software update for vulnerabilities associated with all its products. iOS 14.8 is available now and fixes a critical security flaw in their software. Apple recommends that customers apply the updates to systems immediately.

Today in cybersecurity: Multiple vulnerabilities have been identified in Google Chrome, with two weaknesses under active attack. Depending on the privileges associated with the application, an attacker could view, change, or delete browser data.

Here’s a quick brush up on a few more social engineering terms! While email is a common method used by cyber criminals, it’s not the only channel that can be used to trick someone into compromising their information.
Remember, all official emails from an RIT faculty or staff member will contain a signature indicating it’s authenticity. If you believe an email is an attempted phish, report it to [email protected] immediately.

What is #phishing?
Phishing is an online attack where the attacker attempts to trick you into revealing private information.
These attackers do this buy sending fake emails that appear to be from reputable sources.
What should I look out for?
SENDER - Verify who the email is coming from.
LINKS - Check for suspicious looking links.

EMOTION - Most phishing emails use a sense of urgency or fear to get you to comply.
DATA - Never give away your personal data!
