I am forever thankful and grateful for the opportunity to work with and learn from an extraordinary team of dedicated pubic servants in NYCPS’ inter-governmental affairs team + the entire external affairs division led by our Deputy Chancellor, Kenita Lloyd.
Folks pictured here work around the clock to connect with and serve community partners from all levels of government with the ultimate goal of maximizing support and resources for NYCPS students, staff, and all our amazing school families.
Thank you Chancellor Banks, Deputy Chancellor Lloyd, and the entire team for your incredible support, work, mentorship, and friendship.
I shared with Chancellor Banks that the Knicks and key academic indicators both went up upon his arrival—and that is no coincidence!
Thank you Mayor Adams and the entire Mayor’s office for your partnership + for always being accessible and responsive to my office.
Thank you to all my former and current colleagues in government + amazing staff for your incredible leadership and support for schools.
Thank you to all educators, school staff, families, and students for your inspiring dedication and work —and for always being my North Star when it comes to what we should be fighting and working for.
I’m forever in debt to the NYC Public School system—a system that provided my immigrant parents an opportunity to work as educators , serve families, and support their own children through college.
A school system that provided me with a quality education + unforgettable experiences and relationships that helped mold me into the person I am today.
A school system that I had the honor of teaching in where I met incredibly gifted, talented, and resilient students—especially my former students who endured so much in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. They made be a better teacher and public servant—and for that, I’m forever grateful. My former students mean the world to me.
I also had the honor of supporting NYCPS as the former Chair of the NYC Council Education Committee, which did tremendous work to help all schools reach the 100% FSF budget mark, which many said would be impossible. Forever grateful to my former staff as well. I congratulate the current Chair, Rita Joseph, for immediately taking the committee to new heights with her impactful budget wins, oversight work, and unwavering support for school families.
While I am moving on to a new and important journey, I will always be a proud product of the extraordinary NYC Public School system.
Thank you and forever grateful 🍎
