@GillsInTheBlood I think it’s hunger. We’ve recruited good L2 players but are they hungry enough? Cf Mad Dogs and Stimsons teams that got promoted- players with something to prove. I’m not saying the players don’t care - all footballers care.

The Alexandra, Hull 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 1st visit but not my 1st try. Genuinely unique atmosphere...which you don't say about most pubs. Like squatting in a heritage hotel if your accomplice was into real ale. Beer festival. Brass band. Skittles. Piano. 🔥. Yes. Really. 🍻🎹

Had a great couple of days pub ticking in Brum and surroundings - so many great traditional pubs. Loved the Manor Arms, Rushall and Vine, Wednesfield.

Finally got round to visiting the Hope in Carshalton. 7 times London pub of the year - I could see why but wouldn’t be anywhere near my favourite in London

Larkins Traditional in the Rock, Chiddingstone Hoath. A great example of a Kentish bitter - perfect balance between malt and hops and highly drinkable

A good day NI ticking in West London yesterday. Greenwood hotel was the pick - only NI 3* Spoons in the country

Visited Dagenham’s two NI 3* last night. Both excellent examples of large 1930’s pubs. The ‘Walnut’ room in the Eastbrook is one of finest pub rooms in the country
