An astonishing 21 butterfly species - one third of uk total - @worcswildlife reserve Grafton Wood - ringlet, brown Argus and wood white here, & many others. My expert friend Brett Westwood found most of them for me, novelist Jim Crace and @GregMLeadbetter
Never thought I'd see a Brown Hairstreak in June, in the UK ... Nonetheless, I saw a fresh male at Knepp today... As Fred Trueman used to say on Test Match Special, " I doan't know what's going off out there anymore.."
Evidently in this year’s GCSE English exam Richard Jefferies was mentioned in connection to a historical lineage of nature writing, with Jefferies’ 19th-century works influencing modern environmental literature. Stephen Moss's 'The Accidental Countryside' was quoted too
@StephenMoss_TV My 16yo was delighted to see this. She told all her classmates 'my dad has that book!'
Also, you were in good company Stephen - the other extract was by Richard Jefferies
@RJefferiesSoc
