Most beginners think Futures are complicated.

🥭 Imagine a mango farmer harvesting 1,000 kg of mangoes in 3 months.

Today’s price is ₹100/kg.

The farmer fears prices may fall. A juice company fears prices may rise.

So they agree today to trade at ₹100/kg after 3 months.

No money or mangoes change hands today—just an agreement.

If the price becomes ₹120/kg, the buyer wins.

If it falls to ₹80/kg, the farmer wins.

That’s a Futures Contract.

An agreement to buy or sell an asset at a fixed price on a future date.

Now replace mangoes with Nifty 50, Reliance, Gold, or Crude Oil.

The concept stays the same.

People use Futures to:
🛡️ Hedge against price risk
📈 Trade price movements

The catch?

You only pay a small margin, not the full contract value.

That gives you leverage—higher potential profits, but also bigger losses.

Also, Futures are settled daily (Mark-to-Market) and every contract has an expiry date.
