@realEstateTrent @RestaurantWill Was the only one around for a bit. When they decided to add another nearby, they first sent people from corporate to our annual HOA meeting to pitch it. Community wasn't thrilled with the planned site, but we suggested another site in the same plaza. They took our suggestion.
@RestaurantWill @realEstateTrent The Chick-fil-A in Springfield, VA is in-line. It's chaotic. You order in the back alley and exit through a gap in the middle.
@MagnumIP Right, my point is when examiners let ODP be held in abeyance, they often need to keep applying the ODP rejection after each amendment. If applicant can hold issue in abeyance, examiners should be able to as well. I.e. put on notice that issue will not be considered new grounds.
@MagnumIP In this scenario, if it's the only remaining issue in a case after the response to non-final and applicant hasn't filed a TD, can the next ODP-only action be made final?
@PerErikKarlsson@rocketrepreneur@lougrims@GeorgeWHerbert@joebarnard@SciGuySpace With a circular launch system, you can add energy (i.e. spin up) gradually at essentially the same location. For a linear system, you only have the length of your "barrel" to add energy, so you need to accelerate fast or have a very, very long system.
@rocketrepreneur@GeorgeWHerbert@joebarnard@SciGuySpace I'm sure it's been thoroughly considered by their team, but g-forces on payload during spin-up appear to be primarily lateral rather than axial. It would seem to require very different reinforcement solutions, and optimization likely introduces an interesting bit of asymmetry.
@MLSist Many companies have "first move forward" policies, so your first move when starting a new drive must be forward. It's a safety rule backed by data. I picked up the habit from a previous job when it was required and it just stuck.
@ericbusboom@ericpeebles @wlfpir8 @NanoRaptor @AndrewMontagne I've coincidentally read a lot about self-tapping screw design recently. The leading tip area without threads will drill, and then the first part of the threads where the flute extends will tap, before the full threads engage normally.
@sciencepolicia@MrFresh You can get a glass / ceramic / tile drill bit and probably make a much cleaner drain hole. Use water as a lubricant and take it slow.
