The Pi mining app side menu and app profile page have been redesigned!

As the first step of a broader mining app design refresh, this update makes important Pioneer info and ecosystem features easier to find, understand, and navigate. Tap the hamburger (☰) icon in the top left of the Pi mining app to check it out.

Since the mining app is a central part of the Pioneer experience and its interface has supported the Pi community’s growth to over 60 million engaged Pioneers, changes to its design and user experience must be introduced thoughtfully and iteratively to improve clarity, style and usability while maintaining core functionalities.

On July 22, Pi is scheduled to upgrade to Protocol v25, which primarily focuses on improving network stability and reliability, and supports new capabilities for more efficient, privacy-preserving smart contracts.

I have a feeling $PI is about to surprise a lot of people

Pioneers don't realize that the kind of adoption that we imagined for Pi through the years can only happen when the legal framework of the external world clears a path that allows it to happen.

We didn't realize it earlier, but PCT's vision — and the community's aspirations — cannot thrive in the current landscape.

I think PCT, like everyone else, believed that the targeted July 4th date for signing of the CLARITY ACT would be achieved and the ideal path would be cleared. That's why they initiated a sprint upgrade of the Pi protocol from v19 to v26. They even went as far as putting up deadlines for each upgrade which set v26 to be achieved by end of June.

However, as they saw the delays on CLARITY ACT from the US Senate, and realized that July 4th signing won't happen, they stalled the upgrade — around same period the CLARITY ACT stalled to the detriment of July 4th. In fact, PCT even removed the deadline for v26 and replaced it with TBD while the upgrade from v24 to v25 just hanged for more than a month now, with no information update on it whatsoever (majority of nodes upgraded to v25 but the blockchain is still on v24).

Obviously, plans changed. So they continued their usual "momentum-management" with other updates.

Of course, this is just my analysis, and I may be wrong. But I don't think I am. What Pi is built to be can only happen when the legal framework makes room for it to happen. The implication of Pi in the world is different from that of other Layer 1s.

While seeing Pi at $0.07 might be shocking, I'd urge all pioneers to keep their eyes on the prize. Especially builders.

1. Backend support enables persistent user experiences for newly created App Studio apps: Apps can save and retrieve user-specific data across sessions, enabling experiences that continue even after users leave and return.

2. AI-assisted App Planning Phase: Creators can develop their ideas with the help of AI before App Studio generates the app. This helps guide creators from an initial idea toward a more complete app concept in a more interactive and dynamic way.

Over the past five years, I have learned one important lesson:

Not every Pioneer lives under the same circumstances.

If I had a stable full-time job and had simply been an early YouTuber or an early Pioneer who followed Pi Network as a hobby, I might be telling a very different story today.

But I am a small business owner.

The COVID-19 pandemic was the biggest crisis of my life. To overcome that hardship, I devoted myself completely to Pi Network—not out of blind hope, but because I genuinely believed it had strong long-term potential.

First, I opened a Pi payment store.

At that time, many members of the Korean Pi community believed that 1 Pi = KRW 100,000 represented the value we hoped to achieve based on our expectations and analysis. Like many other early merchants, I accepted Pi payments using that valuation.

We all know how that turned out.

Second, I started a Pi Node business.

For more than a year, I traveled across Korea installing Node computers. Looking back, those were some of the happiest days of my journey. The business provided stable income, but more importantly, it gave me the opportunity to meet countless Pioneers face to face.

During that time, I was able to help more than 4,000 Korean Pioneers complete their KYC process.

Third, although I started YouTube relatively late, my channel eventually grew to more than 15,000 subscribers, allowing me to build one of Korea's Pi communities.

Even today, we continue discussing the future of Pi Network together.

Fourth, I now serve as an important community voice for Pi-based DApps such as Coixa and PiPet, helping connect developers and Pioneers.

Over these five years, I have met Pioneers not only from Korea, but also from China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and many other countries. I've listened to their experiences, struggles, and expectations.

That is why I believe people with influence on social media should be extremely careful about the messages they share.

Every Pioneer has a different reality.

Our financial situations are different. Our professions are different. Our reasons for believing in Pi Network are different.

Yet some influencers speak as if their own circumstances represent everyone.

"It's perfect." "Just keep waiting." "Everything will eventually work itself out."

Those are very easy things to say.

But real life is not that simple.

Not everyone has the luxury of a secure job and the ability to wait comfortably for years.

Some people are fighting to protect their livelihoods. Some have already closed their businesses. Some continue believing in this project because they hope it will create a better future for their families.

Repeating "just wait" to those people is not, in my opinion, a responsible response.

Constructive criticism is not an attack on Pi Network.

It is an effort to help the project become stronger.

A true Pi influencer should not speak only from their own perspective. They should also understand the realities faced by different Pioneers and be willing to represent those voices with honesty, balance, and responsibility.

That, in my opinion, is what it truly means to represent a Pi community—or even a country—as a Pi influencer.
