@pvtjokerus Because it's our largest city, drives much of the US economy, and it is turning to shit.
The bigger question is why won't the president grab him by the collar and say, "Listen, you commie piece of shit..."
FORGIVE ME, BUT COMPOUNDING INTEREST ON STUDENT LOANS IS ROBBERY.
Why should someone earning $40k, $60k, or $90k a year pay for a decade and watch the balance barely move, while the interest outruns every payment they make?
If a person is genuinely trying, paying every month, never missing one, that's not "irresponsible borrowing."
It's a math problem built to never resolve.
Cap the interest. Let it stop compounding once someone's paid back what they borrowed.
Not forgive everything. Not erase responsibility.
Just stop charging people interest on interest for a degree they already paid full price to get.
The working class shouldn't be paying twice what they borrowed while the loan servicers report record profits.
I said what I said.
@CyborgPeds My son is a psychiatric PA in CA. He also earned a Doctorate in medical science. He is careful to avoid calling himself doctor to his patients because his highest MEDICAL license is as a PA.
This chic wants the accolades without doing a residency.
@CyborgPeds Still an austere time with depression era parents
Thank her for her sacrifice and assure her that her grands/ great grands will have fantastic college opportunities.
You aren't going to change her. Might as well go with her wishes. It's a gift she will carry to the hereafter.
@miles_commodore Average home where? My son bought a home at 24 for less than half of that number. The home needed no repairs.
USA is a big country with a variable home base.
@MickeyBlowtorch This is a paradox that many, especially wives, are unable to comprehend. The future need for X is directly proportional to the untimely decision to discard X.
In a cruel twist of fate, this is known as the Blowtorch paradox. We've all been bitten by this curse.
The older I get, the simpler my definition of success becomes.
Enough money to not worry about money.
Enough health to enjoy life.
Enough time to spend with people I love.
And enough freedom to say no to things I don't want to do.
That's wealth.
