@BeilinsonOrel This young man would have done well to heed the ancient maxim Μηδὲν ἄγαν, "Nothing to excess".
(I have no idea whether X can cope with Greek breathings. We will see.)
In honor of the Romani boys ensemble from Sükösd who performed today at @magyarpeterMP’s inauguration in the Hungarian Parliament.
Sharing the raw, heartbreaking lyrics of the Romani anthem, Zöld az erdő — a song soaked in centuries of pain, longing, and quiet dignity.

This is beautiful. The gay Romani singer Ibolya Oláh sings “Magyarország” (Land of the Hungarians) as the crowds on Budapest's Kossuth Square rush towards the Parliament to celebrate a new dawn 🇭🇺🇪🇺
Apparently only about 14% of Europeans have visited five or more European countries. I encourage all Europeans to travel more. Take a weekend trip, visit your neighbors, talk to people. You will learn so much about European cultures, without long flights 🇪🇺🇪🇺

Wieso zum Teufel sollte man einem Krieg von Gut gegen Böse – als Journalist oder sonstwas arbeitender Mensch mit einem Gewissen – „neutral“ gegenüberstehen?! …
Congratulations, dear Hungarian friends, on the 22nd anniversary of your EU membership. 🥳
Thank you for your amazing contribution to our EU family and for teaching us the value of freedom and democracy. The EU would not be the same without you.

As he promised them last November, @magyarpeterMP has invited the Romani children's band from the village of Sükösd to perform at his inauguration.
The continued outreach by the Tisza Party to the Romani community gives real, palpable hope for the future of this nation.

Over the past 16 years, independent Hungarian journalism played a key role in uncovering corruption and abuses of power. Since the April 12 election, however, it is becoming increasingly clear that in the years ahead, one of the primary tasks will be tracing stolen assets that have been moved abroad.
Now that Hungarian authorities are expected to stop covering for them, the stakes will be far higher for corrupt Hungarian politicians and oligarchs. Because beyond the fate of the staggeringly large stolen fortunes, their own impunity — and that of their family members — and their freedom are on the line.
I hope I'm wrong, but I fear this means a far more dangerous period lies ahead of us.
On what would have been her 100th birthday, we share this wonderful photograph of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with Árpád Göncz, former President of Hungary, taken on her State Visit to Hungary in 1993.
Here are the results of the 2026 parliamentary election: an unprecedented majority, an unprecedented mandate — and, at the same time, an unprecedented responsibility.
We are now working with all our colleagues to ensure that, by mid-May, the TISZA Party can begin its work with a government that will prove every single day — even if it is not perfect — that it can live up to the trust of the Hungarian people and is capable of building a functioning and humane Hungary.
The thing to remember about Hungarian illiberalism is that it emerged in very country-specific circumstances. Namely, the veritable self-immolation of the Hungarian center and left after 2006, the resulting near-monopoly on power gained by Fidesz, and various historical neuroses.
The purge has begun in Hungary.
Its is still transition period until May, the remnants of Orban-regime firing its propagandists in mass. Troll farms are closing with immediate effect.
Since Hungary’s election last Sunday, I’ve been soul-searching for any analogy that matches the unbridled joy I witnessed.
Nothing comes close. Pure, overwhelming jubilation after 16 long years — in my adoptive home, and the land of my forefathers.
