Why is an ESL classroom better suited for the empowerment of refugee students as opposed to other classrooms? Should we not, as educators, strive to take into account the diverse needs of our students and allow them to become confident agents of change? #MEdThoughts
@nessa_shipley I like this shift in thinking :) my parents told me to find a way to entertain myself, but I think it is nice to acknowledge that you don't have to be "on the go" 24/7

@heatmorley I asked because of Fullan's idea that it is pointless to try and I integrate technology if there is no guiding pedagogy with it nevermind poor implementation strategies (p. 65). An iPad specifically designed for education it could be even more powerful than at present #upeied626
@melinda_crowell Maybe find out what gets them going. Fullan speaks of "engagement via meaning" (p. 18), I understand to mean that the students have to care about what is being taught. Opportunities to personalise their own learning outcomes like we did at the start of this course. #upeied626
@heatmorley I think most people think "more work" whenever change is brought up. The first step according to Fullan (2012) is making the change easy. He goes on to say "perceptions of progress in work have been the most effective motivator [for] educators" (p. 21).
@Andrew_Newcombe@Zimian1984 Is students perceived value of what they are being taught more important than the outcomes of what is being taught?
I think student enjoyment of topics is more valuable to their personal education than how well they perform on an assessment. Thoughts? #upeied626
Tomorrow the ED6260 class will be discussing technology, pedagogy and change! You can follow our conversation here #upeied626-79 starting from 18h00 AST
Using @Powtoon for my ED6010 final project. I welcome your challenges and learning opportunities--and thanks for the free 3-day trial! @sandymc#upei21c18
@DrErinKeith@sandymc I think constructivism is a great way to go back to being "kids" in synchronisation with our students. Discovering new information and uses for the technology we are already used to is thrilling!

@DrErinKeith@sandymc BYOD, initially it seems to allow us the freedom to use our own devices and gives us a sense of ownership and freedom. Conversely, the inherent inequity it gives rise to caught me off guard and is something I'd like to fairly address. #upei21c18
