@geauxcrimson@jande82@BenSearsMSYS You will hear the difference on Saturday. They stop ringing the bells when the center is over the ball. You might hear a random bell or 2 clanging, but not enough to matter. The fans police other fans.
@geauxcrimson@jande82@BenSearsMSYS And that is the key. MSU does not ring cowbells when the center is over the ball, either. If they do, they get fined and risk the bells being banned again.
@mancaveshowcc@CBCJakeMck Other schools have tons of artificial noise, and they are allowed to have as much as they want. Bands, cheerleader amps, PA systems, air raid sirens, cannons, schools can have whatever they want at whatever volume. The only difference is cowbells are operated by the fans.
@Diapers_Tequila@achristovichh Its not really a $5 million cap, it just looks like one. A school can spend over $5 million, but the excess then has to be deducted from the $43 million available for football and MBB. So, I don't think many teams will exceed the $5 million, at least not by much.
@Vader_Red_@DickThorne1776@FortressHouston Any school can create as much noise as they want; bands, cheerleaders, PA systems, air raid sirens, cannons....but that noise has to stop when the center is over the ball. Our cowbells have to stop when the center is over the ball, too. There is no difference.
@SportsLawGuy There IS a short-term path to collective bargaining. Put it in this bill. Change the labor laws instead of granting antitrust exemptions.
@thechad129@slmandel The SEC is already a defendant in the Baton Rouge suit. This would just be evidence of damages....if they could prove an NFL team event wanted them
@WinterSportsLaw Since billionaires are so anxious to give their money to young athletes, we should just let them ruin the sport? I guess the best way to fight corruption is to just make the corrupt activity legal!
@slmandel I keep hearing people say that, but the money is not moot. If the players should have been given an extra season (which I don't think they should) then they have lost out on a ton of NIL...or for non revenue sports at least the value of a year of school.
