I’m having a conversation at work and I’m just curious of y’all’s input: have y’all ever had somebody ignore/barely respond to you on a personal line, but engage regularly with you on social media?
What’s hilarious to me is how many women saying their man shouldn’t be allowed to take a solo trip are the SAME women who will proudly tell him, “I’ll wear whatever I want and do whatever I please.”
So let me get this straight. Your autonomy is nonnegotiable, but his is conditional? He’s expected to adhere to whatever bullshit rules you establish under the guise of “respect” and “loyalty,” while you operate under an entirely different set of standards?
That’s not respect. That’s hypocrisy dressed up as boundaries.
And at some point, we need to have an uncomfortable conversation about how often people disguise their insecurities and desire for control as relationship expectations.
Because what exactly are you afraid of? That he’ll discover there are women out there who don’t believe loving a man means controlling him?
Loyalty is a choice, not a restriction. Respect is reciprocal, not a privilege you demand while refusing to extend it.
You cannot preach independence while demanding obedience. Pick a principle and stand on it.
