I love the focus on academic achievement, but also the curriculum choices that have been taken here, I love the commitment that staff are giving to taking students on international trips, esports etc. I just love talking to a leader like Nige. #educationalleadership#SEMH
I really want to share this latest edition of Edu Insights. Not about self-promotion but I think the work that is happening at Lord Wilson, a specialist SEMH provision, is quite remarkable and recording it made me feel hopeful. https://t.co/5PKWEGcEAn
A playful KS1 is not chaos or no instruction; it's not a lowering of standards or an invitation for an unravelling of curriculum and any formality. A playful KS1 is an informed and effective way of welcoming our children into their learning and a wonderful bridge from EYFS.
🧵I sense a long overdue shift in approaches to KS1. For quite some time, the move into KS1 has been abrupt & jarring with many v. formal approaches for children only just five. For those long(er) in the tooth, this felt frankly wrong,as old money infant teaching was sidelined.
This thread may be my swansong to eduTwitter.
It’s dead. We all know it’s dead. There are lots of reasons for this, and I’ll write about them at some point, probably on substack.
15 years ago this was the agora for a conversation about a fundamental reformation of education.

After three years in the making, I am very happy to announce that my new book Global Perspectives on Recovery from Learning Disruption. Educational Responses to the Covid-19 Pandemic, will be out on January 22! Thanks @BloomsburyBooks
@Edmund_B_W@ICT_MrP Spoke with my colleague on areas relating to all this but particularly around what research says about the consistency aspect of inspection a couple of weeks ago from a research project they did 'Inspecting the Inspectorate' Might be of interest... https://t.co/Zm1Ya23m9T
There's more coming from Edu Insights: I'll be talking with other researchers, teacher educators and school leaders, teachers etc. In terms of tone, think conversational, focused and not too long (because we're all busy people).

I'm not as active on here as I used to be. Got harder to have conversations which actually went somewhere. So I've started having them in real life at @unisouthampton . And recording them. So yeah...here's a(nother) podcast in the giant podcast cloud. https://t.co/91Ebma3uhO
I like talking to Christian. Not only his eclectic musical recommendations, but also because he is comfortable with nuance, sits with uncertainty & draws attention to limitations. He also has opinions & he makes me laugh. So while I'm bias, I think it's a good listen.
