Last winter I rescued a nice piece of hardwood from a neighbour's skip. Today I processed it into a few nice blanks & finished this lovely shallow dish. There are a couple of visible nail holes in the piece that (to me, at least) show it's history & are part of it's story.

Down LBA 'lock-ring' v. 'pennanular ring' rabbit hole - knew they were very different (lock rings hollow, intricate, sheet gold, pennan's solid with CuA or lead core, sometimes with silver inlay).

Hadn't realised lock-rings sometimes use strip-twist wire... 😳❤️
