@PJennings88@RiverChess@thameswater Here we go again. Any sustained rain and #Chesham STW falls over. Clearly not fit for purpose.
On one hand we have a #hosepipeban due to not enough water, on the other #sewage discharge due to too much water.
Is it too much to expect a water company to actually manage water?
@goch_draig@Peston Well yes but reckon you need to look at lockdown, furlough scheme etc and profligate QE for the last few decades for the source of the hole. Labour would have just dug a deeper hole.
@PaulieMajor@Peston I drank too much last night, got bills to pay
My head just feels in pain
I missed the bus and there'll be hell today
I'm late for work again
And even if I'm there, they'll all imply
That I might not last the day
And then you call me
And it's not so bad ...' (Dido 'Thank You')
@SpeedyScooter46@PJennings88 I wish I lived in your world where government debt is irrelevant and some existing passengers will easily pay off over Β£100billion.
Let's check back in 10 years and see how it's going π
@SpeedyScooter46@PJennings88 Even if the line will eventually repay (highly debatable), the level of government debt (gilts) incurred is unfortunately completely relevant right now. Alongside inflation its the biggest issue impacting the UK economy. Ask Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng if gilts are irrelevant.
@SpeedyScooter46@PJennings88 Maybe explain the economics to Lord Berkley whose latest analysis estimates cost of HS2 at today's prices is Β£155.52billion. Opex and capex are still expenses just handled differently in accounting.
"... through absorption of existing works ... and with the vast swathes of land that have been compulsory purchased being returned to former owners or sold off, the money lost on this white elephant project can be reduced to Β£8 billion." #HS2#stophs2

@rzeta0 @DotLepkowska @CosimadiRonda @mrjamesob I can't say I have noticed this and, believe me, I would have noticed as I am obsessive about food and ingredients.
@PJennings88@RiverChess Excellent news and thanks to you, the RCA and other organisations for the tireless campaigning and work for this precious river and its environment.
In the Chilterns we have had one of the driest Aprils on record and after a mediocre aquifer recharge winter our local rivers will be struggling for flow. Please use water wisely. The less we use the more for the environment.
