@WesleyAdams17@nationalpost Your term backstab infers that Alberta would be injuring a partner who acts in good faith. Perhaps that’s what you need to examine, has Ottawa acted in good faith towards Alberta? Especially when the outcomes are compared to Quebec?
Quebec Liberal leader and former Federal Liberal Cabinet Minister Pablo Rodriquez is under investigation by Elections Canada after texts surface indicating possible vote buying in the Quebec Liberal leadership race. Pablo professes his innocence.
This Motion failed as Urgent Business today but I am happy to bring it back before Council through Committee because I think most would agree with my comments⬇️
The City of Calgary shouldn’t pick sides in international disputes by hoisting any country’s flag other than Canada’s, McLean argued. He said that recently, the city’s flag policy has “inflamed tensions” and been associated with anti-Semitic messages.
“What was once intended as a unifying, symbolic gesture has increasingly become a source of division in our community,” he said.
“As a municipal government, we have an obligation to ensure the spaces and ceremonies we oversee reflect neutrality, unity and respect for all residents. Our role is to ensure city-led ceremonies foster inclusivity, safety and unity, not conflict.”

The esteemed @CheriDiNovo fell for this prank, as did a lot of others.
The thing is Cheri was an elected official and is held out as a progressive stalwart.
There is no Sunnyvale-Jay-Rock riding.
Maybe in Trailer Park Boys but not real life.
A third world communist won in New York because New York is a third world city now. This is mass migration working exactly as intended. It isn’t anymore complicated than that.
🚨 Washington State Democrats using homeless NGOs to funnel money to Antifa, people protesting with Antifa work inside the social services approving the funds.
"The homeless industrial complex and Antifa connection is clear as day. Beyond shocking."
Follow the money. Defund the networks.
At this moment, based on the current generation and installed capacities, Alberta would need all of the following additional resources to fully replace all non-renewable electricity generation:
3606 - Wind Turbines
plus
5223497 - Solar Panels
plus
12.4 - Site C Dams
This is:
2 times more wind generation
2 times more solar generation
15 times more hydro generation

“I think the 700-something people that came have a day job…”
“Where were you?”
“I’ve been against blanket rezoning before it was even a policy”
With Edmonton’s municipal election just over a week away, frontrunner Andrew Knack found himself in the hot seat, challenged by rivals on his progressive positions on illegal drugs, city density and other topics during a fiery Q&A.

@murds72@BonnieMeikle1@dergleen@JSJamato The ATA is both the bargaining agent and the professional regulator responsible for upholding professional standards, this put the ATA in a unique position regarding representation.
In AB, if teachers wish to be employed in the public system they must belong to the ATA.
BREAKING: Stellantis CEASES Jeep Compass production in Brampton and is set to relocate their operations to Illinois.
Job well done Mark Carney. Elbows Down 🤡
Will they report on this?
Some have questioned the use of the ‘Strike Funds’ by the ATA to provide subsistence to teachers on strike. This subsistence is not a mandatory fund for teachers but something that is voted on and approved by the ATA Provincial Executive Council - PEC.
The ATA’s Special Emergency Fund - SEF or Strike Fund can also be reallocated to ‘other’ funds that will support other projects such as defence or advocacy projects. In 2022 the ATA created a Defence and Advocacy Fund (DAF) and transferred $16 million from the SEF into it, explicitly positioning resources for advocacy/defence work.
"Defence / Advocacy" as used in the context of the ATA's funds and operations refers broadly to the work the Association does to protect its members' rights, influence public policy (especially around education), mobilize public support, and respond to threats or challenges to public education. It's not just about striking - it includes ongoing political, legal, communications, lobbying efforts and strategic actions.
Communication projects such as “Stop the Excuses” campaign
In the 2025 bargaining impasse, when contract talks stalled, the ATA approved new communications strategies (billboards, digital media) as part of a public relations push.
The 2024/25 budget had allocated $500,000 towards the SEF as a non departmental commitment which could include advocacy and defence, in 2023/2024 there was 0 allocated.
The 2024/25 budget has allocated $1,000,000 each year for public relations campaigns.

The Alberta Teachers' Union apparently doesn't have any money to pay teachers when they go on strike.
Begs the question, what has the union been doing with all the union dues collected in the last couple of decades?
Aside from anti-government ad campaigns.
