On this Texas Independence Day, we commemorate the spirit and resilience of Texans.
The “Republic of Texas Legation Memorial Act” which I successfully authored in 2020, honors the historic delegation of Texans who came to Washington as diplomats to negotiate our joining the Union. It will serve as a celebration of the Texan spirit here in our nation’s capital.
Yo @InBedRightPod, A+ points & connections (esp Childs’ work)
Why no shoutout to Rick Bayless, Jose Andres (or Andrew Zimmern) for good work/ allyship record? Alice Waters?
No Tiffany Derry mention or Satterfields High on the Hog as good counterpoint?

@lynnsdavenport@AskATranswidow@bwaltens@JackyBesinger Wait wait, you can’t leave me hanging. You said you won’t vote T…

{I have not scanned your timeline to look for your endorsement, so sorry if I ask you to repeat yourself}
I feel bad because at some point some of these sad people are kids who shouldn’t be on here & don’t have fully developed brains - when somebody actually starts poking their chronically online bubble they probably feel bad about themselves & cry. I don’t want to make a kiddo cry
@MnHopes@SuzanneMonyak@davidfolkenflik Makes sense on face value, but by that logic, could Joe have hypothetically torn down the historic west wing for a ballroom-sized library to preserve all literature, uncensored, w/ donors paying, to teach about freedom of press, covered in trans pride & gay pride rainbow flags?
@Agonzo1@statesman “Put Christ back in our children.”
Odd way to put it when you actively support people who cover up for pedophiles, human trafficking and murdering innocent children to make more money
Read your bible please
@Swords_of_Truth@AuronMacintyre I don’t agree w you (I’m obv a “leftist” & I love decent people, wish we had more of them), but i agree w you? (It’s obv who benefits from manufactured rage to manipulate low-inform voters to keep the few on top, selling the dream that one day you too can make it up to the top)

Mike has spent the better part of the last decade making education worse for Texas children
Help friends/fam go vote!
The way Mike Morath talks about his job, you’d think he was the head of a massive megachurch, not the second-largest public education system in the country, writes editorial writer Cody Copeland.
Morath has taken decisive action to further the state campaign to inject evangelical Christianity into Texas public schools.

@qaggnews just want to say on face value I think the idea of a public database to track *anybody* who is abusing kids or embezzling money is a public service worth having. It’s shameful how easy criminals get off in our corrupt system
The sites you made seem useful imho
A 24-year-old Polish tennis player arrived in Paris last week ranked 114th in the world, with no sponsors, no guaranteed income, and no certainty she could even pay for her hotel room.
She had to win three qualifying matches just to enter the French Open main draw. Prize money is only paid at the end of the tournament, so a Polish sports drink brand quietly stepped in and covered her hotel bill.
Her name is Maja Chwalinska. And today, she plays in the French Open final.
Before this tournament, she had won exactly one Grand Slam main draw match in her entire career. She had battled depression so severe that in 2021 she couldn't get out of bed. She underwent knee surgery in 2022. She spent years grinding through small tournaments across Europe just to stay afloat.
Then she arrived in Paris, won three qualifiers, and kept winning. Zheng Qinwen. Elise Mertens. Maria Sakkari. Diana Shnaider. Nine straight matches. One set dropped.
She is now the first qualifier in French Open history to reach the final. The last time a qualifier reached a Grand Slam final, it was Emma Raducanu at the 2021 US Open. Raducanu won.
By simply making the final, Chwalinska has earned more prize money than her entire career combined. The runner-up cheque alone is $1.6 million. If she wins today, she takes home $3.25 million.
One week ago she couldn't pay for her hotel room.
