Excited to share the first paper of my PhD under @jenpgh!
Here, we revisit the idea of motor somatotopy in humans implanted with intracortical electrode arrays as part of a clinical study in @RNELabs and @Corbionics

Developed over 10 years, we've released a methodological roadmap detailing how to evoke tactile finger sensations to individuals with spinal cord injuries by directly stimulating sensory cortex. Check out the preprint! 💙💛⚡️🧠
After 10 years of implanting Utah Arrays in 5 participants with spinal cord injuries…
we provide a methodological roadmap to target and evoke tactile finger sensations using intracortical microstimulation.

@slimanjbensmaia was a great collaborator, scientist, mentor, and friend. His enthusiasm for science, and life in general, was unmatched. We will miss him greatly. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues.
Overheard in the corridor @Lee_E_Fisher to @MCapogrosso "I can't wait to hear why people are going to hate this grant this time!" Way to go for trainees motivation 🦾#grants#neurotwitter
ICMS to human S1 evokes touch sensations experienced over a spatially restricted patch of skin. We take a deep dive into the size, distribution, reliability, and neural determinants of these so-called projected fields. @CMGreenspon & @Corbionics.

Perfect timing for #WomensHistoryMonth! I had a great time working on this paper and got to have some insightful conversations with very accomplished women in this field who have all contributed greatly to this community of neural engineers 🎉
Happy #Women's History Month! We're celebrating with a review paper on experiences of women in neural engineering (out now in @FrontNeurosci!) We examined major obstacles women and gender minorities face in neural engineering (NE) and suggested some ways to start addressing them.
Please check out this excellent and critically important paper from our group addressing the continued need for improvement in gender equity in neural engineering!
Just in time for International Women's Day!🦸♀️👩🔬👩💻I am sooooo proud of this paper💜It was a massive team effort with a wonderful group of women.
We interviewed 6 women in Neural Engineering about their experiences navigating this field. #WomenInSTEM
