Well done to JACK (pictured right) who has filled FIVE jam jars with 5p's all for Filey Lifeboat.
Many thanks to Jack and his brother and sister and all the family.
See you next year.
Thurs. 20 Aug.
ILB launched to Sammy the spaniel who had fallen down the cliffs 2 miles north of Filey.
Coaxed back into the ILB and returned to owner. Round of applause on Coble Landing from crowd gathered to watch.
Sammy is absolutely fine.
Well done everyone.
When most of the people in York have gone home, the shouting, screaming, arguing and abuse has died down. The Police and Ambulance sirens have become less frequent and even our radios have stopped, our volunteers can relax a bit and enjoy the area in which we work.
🏖️ Leave the inflatables at home
🏖️ Plan ahead, know the tide times and how tides work (in, out, up, down and side to side at different times daily)
🏖️ Swim between the red and yellow flags so the lifeguards can see you
🏖️ Dial 999 and ask for Coastguard if needed #BeBeachSafe
It looks like it's going to be a lovely day. 🌞
If you're heading to the beach today with your children, remember to visit the lifeguard hut when you arrive and collect a free wristband for each child.
You can then write your phone number on the band and if your children get out of sight, the lifeguards will know how to contact you.
Enjoy the beach, have a great day, but stay safe!
The Mersey class Lifeboat 'Keep Fit Association' has been on station here in Filey since 1991. She is still in pristine condition after almost 30 years, a fine testament to the coxswains we've had in that time.
Follow the link. Hopefully...

If you are thinking of taking your inflatable flamingo to the beach (or any other inflatable) please think again!
Luckily in this case nobody was onboard but imagine if your children had found themselves 1 mile off the beach in today's offshore wind...

Our thoughts are with Luke's family at this sad time.
IMPORTANT NOTICE.
Further to the HM Government announcement, our Lifeboat shop will close until further notice. No visitors will be allowed in the boathouse. That way we hope to maintain our life-saving service in difficult times. Thanks for your support. Look after yourselves.
