A busy maintenance period for the team in preparation for the next Systems Proformance Assessment Trials (SPATs). We even managed a visit from the next generation of unmanned vessels, RN MotorBoat Abdiel.
While conducting autonomous trials from Portland, the MASTT team were awarded the Platinum Jubilee medals in recognition of their service. #PlatinumJubileeCelebration

The MMCM capability enables @RoyalNavy personnel to operate from ashore. In this picture the OiC is acting as the Decision Maker with Mine Warfare Ratings operating the USV and TSAM. In this latest trial, data was gathered at a speed of 10kts!

Leading Seaman Mason taking charge of his deck team during todays ROV installation.
A complex serial, but gives Mine Warfare ratings more responsibility in this exciting capability.

This week we have been sweeping up on installing and removing our ROV.
It’s not a competition, but we are now doing it quicker than the training staff 😉
To make today even better, our engineers stopped briefly for a photo!

Friday at sea, testing the ROV.
Whilst bobbing around on the blue crinkly stuff, we’ve named the ROV. Let us introduce you to… (drumroll) SAABastian.

Sun, Sea and… thunderbird 4!
Today, MASTT received the ROV element of the MMCM capability.
Some fantastic teamwork, combining RN personnel with @ThalesUK and @SaabSeaeye to embark the vehicle onboard the USV.
More to follow!
@Turnchapel
@ANDREWJOHNWILD1 We actually require larger teams of MW ratings to operate this new capability at sea from short range (whilst keeping personnel clear of Mine Danger Areas).
Stay tuned, we promise we won’t be operating from Nottingham 👍🏼
Here we are, carrying out Towed Sonar trials from a remote control centre.
MCM autonomy is the future, this exciting capability will be operated by Mine Warfare ratings to ensure a global Navy manoeuvres safely and freely.

@Gunbuster903 @CDRETNEILD @fightingsailor@ThalesUK Absolutely, our WEO and LET (ME) work tirelessly to ensure this runs smoothly. When they stop being camera shy, we’ll dedicate a post to them 😊
