The new Paris 2021-26 urban biking plan will invest €250 million to, among other things, make 52km of pandemic bike-lanes permanent; add 130km of new bike-lanes; add 130K new bike parking spots; & teach all elementary school students to bike.
Leadership.

Between 2021 & 2026, Paris will gain 180 kilometers (112 miles) of new permanent segregated bike lanes, & bike parking spots will more than triple, with 180,000 more added to the 2021 total of 60,000.
How #Paris Will Become “100% Cyclable,” via @CityLab https://t.co/7DX9kiutbf
The most important thing about this amazing Paris transformation is how fast it happened — how fast people on bikes “appeared” — once streets were transformed. You can’t write this off as “Paris was always this way,” because it wasn’t.
It took leadership.
“France will now pay you €4,000 (nearly US $4,000) to swap your old polluting car for a cleaner & more city-appropriate electric bicycle. That marks a major increase in the incentive… Pedal bicycles are also included in the generous incentive package…” https://t.co/uYPfJMP9Dd

Start looking tonight from dusk to dawn over the next couple of nights.

A reminder, should you be in need of a smile, that eggs were once called ‘cacklefarts’, penguins were known as ‘arse-feet’, umbrellas as ‘bumbershoots’, and sausages as ‘bags of mystery’ because you never quite know what’s in them.
