“The volunteers— were told by members of the mayor’s team in a Monday night briefing that they cannot help out at the soon-to-launch arrival center, said Power Malu, the founder of Artists Athletes Activists.”
New: Some volunteers on the frontlines of NYC’s migrant crisis will not be welcome at a 24/7 arrival center for asylum seekers that Mayor Adams plans to announce today.

Anyone that tell me D1 is privileged and well resourced is mistaken what the reality is here. Just because you see tall luxury high rises doesn’t mean our families are living large. The fact we have set up community fridges in schools speaks to the real need.
In LES we take care of us. Shout out to @Powermalu and @LilahLMejia for not just being out there during the height of COVID but also now when our families in D1 need it most.
