My Christian neighbours approached me to teach Carnatic music to their son. I asked them if they had no problem? They decided to take a trial class.
After the class the question I get is "Can you teach Carnatic without lyrics on Hindu Gods?"
I was spellbound. Told them very respectfully that the musical system is based on Hindu principles.
I could sense they were disappointed on their children missing out.
Asked them about their family. The lady mentioned both she and her husband were born Hindu but converted later. Their parents and siblings are still Hindus. They often have issues unable to navigate between both the religions.
Conversion is never right when you wanna have best of both religions.
You cannot cherry pick everything and cause hurt to others.
