I’ve been fascinated with momentum for a few years.
Momentum doesn’t come from living perfectly.
Momentum comes from movement.
With the least amount of fear.
The least amount of hesitation.
Momentum comes from taking action, never stopping.
DJs need to ignore negative people.
Most DJs who complain haven’t put in the reps needed to build a reputable brand and to tour successfully.
2 things I noticed when I met John Summit
How humble he was
How big he thought at the same time
He released dozens of tracks before most of us knew about him.
In the festival green room he told me it was his 5th or 6th time playing in Columbus but the first time anyone cared.
Never forget, no one cares, until everyone cares.
Keep going.
It’s been a while X, first time posting on here since the app name change. To anyone who sees this thanks for following me. I’ll be posting on here to help DJs, but I think some of the things I’ve learned by building a DJ brand could be beneficial to other creators. This is the type of info I share on threads:
I write to DJs to help them.
1. WHY - For how many touring artists there are, not many do this. In 2024, I played 60+ shows in 50+ cities and 9 countries. Without an agent, big management team, record label or a tik tok.
2. HOW YOU CAN DO THIS - By creating momentum, excitement, and a story around your dj brand. Those key components of a team will find you when the time is right.
3. BUT - They won’t find you playing at your same local venue for the 89th time. Create your own opportunities.
@zachpogrob This was cool to listen to as I finished my cardio tonight. Loved the piece on anyone can write and run, it’s true. Dark place is where we need to tap into often.
Think about the last time you really liked a girl. Nobody had to force you to talk to her for hours on end. Work the next morning? Didn't matter. You were prepared to move mountains to actualize that fantasy in your head
Maybe you were ignorant. Bit foolish. Drunk off the possibilities. But you wanted it. You wanted it bad. And you felt that desire viscerally
Compare this to business. So much talk around how to be more productive, less lazy, etc. Constantly searching for strategies to stay motivated enough to just send a cold email
Why is there so much friction? Would any of that tension even exist if you actually truly wanted it? And if you didn't truly want it, why waste even a second more on the path?
It should be simple. Not easy, but literally being able to wake up ready to take action shouldn't require so many tactics. It's just a matter of believing that your "North Star" is undeniably worth it. Can't blaze a trail if the fire isn't there
Problems disappear when they're not even seen as problems. Needs to be resonance. It just has to make sense. You've experienced this before. You already know what it's like tap into that type of energy. Find your source and get after it
