Planning your retirement also means planning what you will do with your time, your skills and your experience. It can be as little as a one-off support to a regular weekly or monthly activity.
One of the biggest retirement mistakes people make is focusing only on finance, it is inly important. But retirement planning can’t just be about money – it has to be about the life you will have when you retire as well.
Seeing what resources are available and who you could speak to about them in your workplace. Does your workplace have a pension scheme? Or an internal advisor? Can you apply to continue working past it? All of these questions are great starting points for retirement planning.

Your GP is the best person to ask about what you need but there are a few things to ask about now:

Cholesterol
Blood glucose (sugar) levels
Blood pressure
Prostate check
Mammogram
Cervical check
Bone scan (DXA scan)
Bowel check
Skin check – moles etc.
Thyroid
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that retirement planning is just financial – you need to be ready for changes in your relationships, changes in your daily activities and changes in how you see yourself.
We are often bombarded with emails, messages with offers, deals, or warning statements. It can be hard to know what’s legitimate and what’s a scam; these tips can help you investigate and figure out if something is genuine.
You are never too young to write a will – and it is important to update it when you need to. Do check in with your solicitor to make sure everything you need is included and that the wording is right. This helps to ensure your wishes are carried out as you want.
